Unzip the above file and replace the same file at %appdata%\xfer\serum" that's not very clear. The folder is SerumCFG_Presetsst root .zip_files, everything in there IS unzipped, and there is no Serum.cfg, if that is what we are looking for ??????

Can you explain this a little better for us that are not hackers.

I would suggest to verify you have a Serum Presets folder at \documents\xfer and that there are files in the folders (and not just a tree of empty folders). If the Serum Presets subfolders have no files, you have antivirus software installed which is preventing files from getting created in \Documents

When I go to local disc (C:)> Users > me > appdata>roaming then scroll to xfer its says 'Users\me\ AppData\ Roaming\Xfer is unavailable. If the location is on this PC, make sure the device or drive is connected or the disc is inserted, and then try again. If the location is on a network, make sure you're connected to the network or Internet, and then try again. If the location still can't be found, it might have been moved or deleted.' I tried uninstalling it also and it wouldn't let me. what should I do?

I think you should probably open a support ticket and mention your issue. These sorts of forum posts become a "catchall" for unrelated problems and you haven't started with your problem. So please open a support ticket here and we will be in touch:

When you download a Serum preset on the website, it'll show up in the Presets section of the Splice desktop app. However, please note that presets can't be dragged out of the Splice app the same way samples can. They can only be loaded up via your synth's preset browser.

If your Serum presets folder is in its default location, Splice will automatically create a new folder called "Splice" within your Serum presets directory when you download your first Serum preset. This is an important distinction: it means that Serum presets will not download to your main Splice folder, like samples and presets for other synths do.

If you've moved that "Serum Presets" folder to elsewhere on your computer, or to an external drive, your Serum presets will download to your main Splice folder instead. That folder will be here by default:

If you're unsure of which folder your Serum presets have downloaded to, you can use the "open enclosing folder" method above in the Splice app, to jump directly to the location of a specific preset on your computer.

If your presets from Splice have downloaded to Serum's presets directory (which they will if you haven't moved any folders from their expected locations), then you don't need to do anything to add those presets to Serum. They'll automatically be in Serum's preset browser (under "Splice"), and available to use. Please note that you might need to restart your DAW before you see new presets you just downloaded.

If your Serum presets downloaded to your regular Splice folder, you'll need to move/copy them to Serum's presets directory. You can add them to the "user" folder there, make a new "Splice" folder, or make a different folder. Again, the filepath to the Serum Presets folder is:

If you're on a Mac are are receiving a "download failed" error on the Splice app when attempting to download Serum presets, see this article: Why are Serum presets failing to download in the Splice app?

Installing Serum presets can be a tricky endeavor for beginners and even experienced producers. The pain points often revolve around navigating through unfamiliar folders, dealing with compressed files, and ensuring that Serum recognizes your newly added presets.

Locate first the default serum preset folder location (Mac: \Library\Audio\Presets\Xfer Records\Serum Presets, PC: \Documents\Xfer\Serum Presets, or Menu > show serum presets folder) then check if the folder exists and contains files and subfolders.

Locate first the default serum preset folder location (Mac: \\Library\\Audio\\Presets\\Xfer Records\\Serum Presets, PC: \\Documents\\Xfer\\Serum Presets, or Menu > show serum presets folder) then check if the folder exists and contains files and subfolders.

When your preset library is ever-growing in size (especially when wavetables are attached to them) you may want to move it to an external drive instead of the system one. To do that, just make a copy of the preset folder into the new location and then delete the original one. On next run Serum will prompt you with a \\\"Serum preset folder not found\\\" message & will prompt you to point it to the new preset folder. Just make sure to keep the folder content structure & subdirectories identical, and to avoid non-ASCII characters in the folder path.

Very easy: after you've made a sound you're happy with, you can just click the floppy disk icon \ud83d\udcbe on the left of the preset name bar, then select the subfolder where you want to store it. The saved files are under the file extension .FXP and are cross-compatible PC & Mac

On windows, the presets are stored in OS drive \Documents\Xfer\Serum Presets\Presets and user-folder is made for the users Serum Sounds/Custom presets but since it is purely file-based you can create any folder under presets.

You can Move libraries by clicking on the Move button. A good strategy is having "Sample Library Content" and "Sample Library Content 2" on different disks and spread the libraries to different folders. You can always see where the library is by clicking "Details".

Hello friends, I am trying to save a Serum present INTO the Project's folder I am working on but all the Logic projects are greyed out and I cannot open them in order to save the preset. Any suggestions why is it like that and how to fix? Make them not greyed out so that I can get inside the project folder and put the preset there? Thanks so much!

You can either save the project as a Folder, and thus easily be able to save other files inside them, or save the preset to eg the desktop, and then in the Finder, select the Logicx package, right click on on it and choose "Show Package Contents" to open it up, and place the saved file there directly.

You don't have to create the folder yourself, what I personally recommend is that when you start a new project, the first thing you do is save it (File > Save) organized as a folder, copying audio files inside the project folder:

just another idea: when i create (or modify) a preset in any synth that's specific to a project, i save it in that synths user presets (ie from the synth's GUI itself). easy to find (altho i've never lost my presets within a project), and easy to get to if i wanted to use it elsewhere.

guess it depends on which synth (except for an occasional use of alchemy, all mine are 3rd-party). most of them have a 'user presets' folder. plus, i name a file after the project name; if my project's name is 'dog', i save the preset as 'dog' (or 'dog1, dog2' etc), and easy to find if ever needed.

Yep, but as a few mammoth threads in the Presets forum show, I generally like to have all my synth patches consistently available in one place, with one mechanic, that I can assign MIDI buttons to move through patches, search and organise them and so on, without having to even have the plugin open.

So I prefer to use Logic's preset system for everything where I can (I wish it had some kind of "Favourites" function though), with a few exceptions (usually, for plugins that already have a huge amount of content and good preset browsers, where the effort of saving out the patches doesn't make much sense.)

This simple action of pressing the Show Serum Presets Folder reveals the location of your Serum presets folder, a critical step in installing new presets to get back to making unique music.

The first thing you'll need to do is download the 3rd party presets you want to import. You can find serum presets on our store, and various other places online such as music forums, youtube tutorials, etc!

Finally, you'll need to update the preset list in Xfer Serum so that it includes the new presets you've just added. To do this, open Xfer Serum and click on the "Presets" tab. From the dropdown menu, select "Refresh Presets". This will rescan your preset folder and your new presets to the list. You should now see your new presets in the dropdown menu and be able to use them in your songs!

Serum is an exciting plugin to use. However, it can be hard to learn how to design presets. Thankfully you can install third party banks. Knowing how to install serum presets is key if you actually want to use those presets ?

drag-and-drop the entire spectral samples folder here

now refresh your noises by selecting MENU RESCAN FOLDERS ON DISK. i recommend rescanning whenever you make changes to these folders.

you should now be able to load in your custom samples to the noise osc.

in serum, refresh your serum presets be selecting MENU RESCAN FOLDERS ON DISK.

you should now be able to access your new serum presets.

Punchy, Boomy, Versatile.

Using Serum is the perfect solution for 808s that sound legit but also consistently fresh.

You can control and change the wavetable, alter the attack of the kick with the 50 different attacks we provided, set the bend of the sub/tail, your fresh 808 is just a few clicks away.

Just put the content in the serum presets folder and you are ready to go!

Extensive control

We programmed every patch to take advantage of the powerful macros in Serum, and we made as consistent as possible to be easily remembered and accessible for you.

Macros will allow you control the Attack volume, length of the 808, Distortion, wavetable warp and the initial tuning, allowing you to get that tune sweep that is typical of the 808.
