If it is simple text format , yes u can or If it is encoded dat then use similar decode..

You can start a record session , open notepad, modify the file and
close notepad.

After that you can conrvert genereated vb code o descrtiptive programming.

Using fso ( file system object ) u can perform this in a flash. Google for "qtp fso"
