if i give 1000 regression test cases to automate, what do do? and how
to select automation candidature for this scenario?

it is an excel sheet that read by driver script to execute the test cases. this sheet contains list of all the test cases with a flag that indicates whether to execute that tc or not.

Type mismatch in function when i call existing action from different action

use RunAction "<action name> [test name]", iterations (optional), parameters (optional)

test name is used only if the action is in another test and add the test name path to folder list.

there is no specific reason why to use vbs. it actually depends on the framework i.e. which functions written in vbs file and which in qfl.

there are 3 different function library formats which you can associate with your test cases. These are -

1) .qfl(qtp function library) - This is the standard QTP function library.
2) .vbs
3) .txt

All these 3 can be used with QTP and i dont think there should be any performance issue wrt using any of these.
