Hi all,

Does any body have any suggestions on how to read the hover tool tip text? I tried using fireevent "onmouseover" and then read, but qtp is not able to recognize the object for that hovered text. I tried with object spy to look for properties and no luck!

I would appreciate for any input.

Thanks,

Hi Surabhi,

I have seen a code in the following lines.
You can try this
Object.getToolTipText()

Thanks

Hi

I assume your application is web application."alt" property holds tool tip text.

Spy the object and see the value of "alt" property. Or use getroproperty method.

Hi,
Try Using "onmouseover" and put wait for some time, and then use getRO property to capture text.
Hope this help.

Hi Surabhi,

we can get the tool tip information using DOM object

msgbox Browser("name:=Google").Page("title:=Google").WebEdit("name:=q").Object.title

This link Might be useful..

To capture or spy on tool tip text, QTP qill not be able to do it, because my application is built in such a way that once the tool tip will display once and go away. SO, to get the 'alt' property in obj spy, I cannot do it as once my window changes to QTP, the tool tip is gone.

Thanks,
Surabhi

The object.title actually worked on web application. I have inserted fireevent on mouseover and a wait statement. Now, the obj.title displays the reqyired text. Thanks for the help folks!
