first share distribution of the Merchants' Gate CSA Summer/Fall 2019 season will take place on Tuesday, June 18th, 2019!

Some reminders:

The season will run for 22 consecutive weeks.

Distributions are out of John Jay College of Criminal Justice, 860 Eleventh Avenue, near West 59th Street. Enter through the main glass doors; the distribution tables will be to your immediate left and right, on the public access side of the security station.

Distribution hours for the season are 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.-- firm. Please do not arrive earlier or later; you will not be able to pick up your shares outside of those set hours. Exceptions only for morning truck unloading volunteers who may pick up their shares upon completion of their assigned shifts. Any produce or products unclaimed at distribution's end will be donated to John Jay College/City Harvest as part of our site-use agreement.

Sign in with the volunteers on duty -- identifiable by their "Volunteer" badges -- before collecting the contents your shares.

Deliveries arrive in bulk, in crates; members measure out and weigh their own vegetable share allotments. Volunteers distribute fruit and egg shares to those members who have purchased add-on subscriptions. (Note: fruit delivery begins in July.) Please bring your own bags and containers to transport your shares home.

Weekly share contents will be posted on the CSA Google Group as soon as we receive notice from Norwich Meadows Farm -- usually by Tuesday morning. If you have not yet signed up for the Google Group, do so now to keep up to date on important CSA announcements. Once you join, you may manage the frequency with which you receive messages from us and your fellow CSA members.

Hereafter, CSA communications will be through the Google Group only.

The volunteer schedule is viewable online at http://merchantsgatecsa.org/schedule.html. To register for your required 6 on-site hours per season (for a total of 12 hours from June-November), sign up for open shifts on the volunteer sign up sheets available at every distribution, beginning this week. On non-distribution days, you may also email this season's volunteer coordinator, Casey Kirton, to request specific timeslots: volunteermerchantsgate@gmail.com.

***REMINDER: ALL CSA volunteers must complete 6 hours per season, for a total of 12 volunteer hours from June 18th - November 5th.
