Rails 3.0 merge with Merb

Merb and Rails are going to merge. The question is how it'll affect the
project? Should we abandon in now? After merge? Provide alternative
backends for Rails I18n? Provide alternative i18n plugin for rails?

I would very much like to see this project live on. There is no other
l18n plugin that supports DataMapper and still lives (at least to my
knowledge).
So I vote for a Datamapper Backend to Rails l18n
