Hi Guys,

The domain name for merbunity.com is going to expire soon.  I'm considering taking it down since I haven't logged into it or looked at it basically since the merger.  If anyone would like to take it over please get hold of me and I'll flip everything over to them.

Cheers
Daniel

I, for one, would be sad to see merbunity go. I was planning to
upload a merb-admin screencast in the near future. According to
compete.com, the site is still getting about 1,000 unique visitors per
month (not shabby considering it hasn't been updated in a year).

If it does go away, I would like to see the screencasts and tutorials
moved over to http://merb.github.com since it appears that people are
still referencing them.

Whatever happens I'm happy to hand over to anyone who wants to move content / take over the site.

Cheers
Daniel

I'm only dabbing in Merb but can probably host it if there are people willing to contribute to updating the content.

I'm open to contributing to content... Could also help out with
hosting migration (Heroku if you want), although don't want the
responsibility of chief maintainer atm.

I'd like to keep merbunity as well. Options I see:

1) We (or I) can take over, we keep the site functionality and all the
content as it is. We could add donation stuff to the site which could
solely pay for the running costs.
2) We take the domain and create github pages under the github.com/
merb account and migrate content there. And direct the domaint to the
GH pages.

I can provide hosting for free now. But it's going to be far less
pleasant as the Heroku stuff.

The most important is the content. That is what I really want to keep
the most. However having site where we can post new stuff/tutorials
screencasts is really important as well.

What do you think about the Github pages? Is it the possibility?

What are the plans for merbivore.com? Is there a good reason for
having two separate sites?

I think that the merbivore.com should be moved to the github.com/merb.
All wiki content should go to the github wiki and other content should
go to the githubpages. Jacques already started but we're short in our
resources right now I'd say :-)

The merbunity is more about tutorials/education/social stuff I think.

Source for merbunity.com can now be found here:

Thanks to Daniel (hassox) for making the handover process really easy.

I've started work on upgrading to 1.1pre (although not yet pushed).
Probably will happen some time around the holidays, although patches
and contributions are very welcome! Post ideas here, email me
privately, or pm myabc on #merb (irc.freenode.net) if you'd like to
get involved.
