the links in the sections of the book refer to english articles, so I translate, eg:
[Ruby language][] into [El lenguaje Ruby][]
but the link still points to an english wiki (lets say)

what you guys think about it? should we provide alternative native language articles?
are this native language sources overall available? (i think not, wiki yes, but not all very accurate as the english ones)

just a thought

Acutally I've left - for italian translation - the english form link
(= Ruby language)...

I think if somebody is reading the documentation in any language but English, is because he/she does not speak English or he/she is lazy enough for not to read in the mentioned language. Therefore, I think those links in the translations should be in the respective language when possible (if those links does not exists in the respective, then bad luck... to leave the link to English).

What do you think about it?

hey there,

seems fair to me, but:
only we'll have to search/find the candidate articles and sources and the filter/select among them

is that so? or can I put a link to  >>my grandma's ruby blog<< :-) and you'll trust me??

well, like I said, these are only some loud thoughts

cheers

Hi again,

As a translation, I don't think you should not change the site the link from the English version is referring. In the case this link already have a translation to the page the link referring in the language you're translating, then you can modify the reference to the translated page (the reader will be very happy for that!). Otherwise, I'd be fine to leave it unchanged.

Javier.-

I agree on this one. I've changed all Wikipedia links in my
translation to point to local Wikipedia pages where possible. If there
was no local Wikipedia article or link is to other type of web
resource I left the link as it was.

I don't know if it would be helpful to have a different styles for
links to pages of the 'local' language (selected using 'rel' attribute
in CSS maybe).
