So how do I actually tweak the operation ? I saw we have shift, ctrl, and alt available when using the tool why we are not taking advantage of those free keys and use them to tweak the operation or to start a new operation instead. ?

If you want to hear my opinion what works the best is: left-click-drag to start the operation and tweak the operation after, Shift+ left-click-drag to start a new operation, right-click to end the operation.

I use it all the time to push vertices and edges for retopoligy without activating the polybrush first.
For me it makes perfect sense to have it and I was pretty happy to find out how it works and performs.

FYI - of course polygons snap to the surface. This is how you do manual retopology.
You slide them around on top of the background object to tweak, refine and relax the distribution. This goes hand in hand and is not specific to a retopology workflow, either.

I'm using Inventor Professional 2017 with a 1200+ item assembly created in 2012. Previously in presentation files, I could edit the direction of a tweak. Respective of X, Y, or Z axis. I cannot find this option in the "Edit Tweak command. It would be much more time efficient if I could change direction instead of deleting the tweak and starting over. I've attached a snip of the screen. The tweak paths I set the parallel lines to with the pen function in the snipping tool are referencing the tweak in question (upper right). The funny colored parts are the ones being tweaked. I drew in by hand where the Cartesian coordinate should be. However, the only option it seems is to adjust the length of this tweak-not direction. Is there a menu or dialogue box I'm missing?

You will not find an option to change the direction of a tweak. Once you have defined the direction of the tweak, any changes can only be to the magnitude of the tweak amount whether distance or rotation. You will have to delete the tweak and then select the correct direction. You can change your mind while you are creating the tweak by dragging the component back to the original position and selecting a new axis. This is only true if you have not stopped the left click drag motion.

I have also found this to be a problem. I've also found that after creating a tweak that moves in 2 or 3 axis (select the center sphere for direction) I cannot edit anything but the magnitude and the odd ball direction is fixed. This should be changed. If a user enters x,y,z to create something, the user should be able to edit x, y and z to change it. Seems to me like a fairly basic rule of thumb for user interfaces was violated.

I have not seen if this was resolved from earlier posts. I need to change direction of a tweak. I made a change to a large assembly file. All I did was swap a part from forward facing to rear facing. When I go to the .ipn file about half way through the component switched from vertical movement to horizontal movement. I did not not change anything in this direction. At one point i regenerated and it went back but when I made a change in magnitude it switched to the horizontal direction again.

In terms of technical documentation workflows, indeed Inventor Presentation environment has a lot of room for improvement. We have heard some negative feedback over the years. We are investigating good solutions for future releases. If there is anything we can help you make Inventor work better for you, please let us know.

OOhhhh... I could give an earful right about now... Just "replaced components" in an assembly, and am now fretting the many hours of time I am about to put in just to "update" something... that is seemingly simple... ARRGGHHH!

Due to this update, the positions are all messed up, and I can't seem to adjust the triad/exploded direction to a different direction, only same path +ve or -ve directions. I now have to basically re-jig my exploded view, oh, and want to know which tweak it is you have to adjust... hahaha good luck!!! Even right clicking in the frustrating timeline doesn't tell you which tweak it is, can only edit that tweak. Want to rearrange your tweaks? WHOAA... good luck... would be great if they put a "find in browser" as lazy implementation... Woudl be awesome if it would have option to dynamically select in the tree when I highlight over stuff/clicked on it. It would also be nice if you could rearrange the tree... you know, like the rest of their other segments of this program... I can do it in part, assembly, and dwg... but not IPN...

It is really frustrating that there is even an IPN filetype at all - having this information contained in the assembly alleviates a lot of mechanical assembly update problems/discrepancies - but Autodesk likes complicated solutions it seems../ SWx was really handy to edit the exploded views. I could edit the tree, edit each equivalent tweak - with ease, oh AND, you could even have MULITPLE EXPLODED VIEWS IN THE SAME ASSY FILE!!!!... I could go on... but I will digress...

The reason why ipn (Presentation) exists is to allow users to perform technical documentation workflows without having to change the assembly. If you have access to the assembly and you can modify it, you may want to use Inventor Studio instead. It does not require an additional file. The only downside is that such animation cannot be documented in the drawing.

Regarding enhancement requests for Presentation, there are indeed plenty, just like every corner of Inventor. There were some changes in 2018 but for the most part, it stays unchanged. Maybe it will get some attention in the near future.

I did look into the Inventor Studio - and to be honest, this is where some of that explode functionality SHOULD exist, but alas does not - disappointed again. You did have my hopes up though... It is purely just for making a pretty looking model... and animations - why wouldn't this also permit some basic explode functionality - no timelines required, just feature moves and connection line options. It would be great to have this then enable a new Level of Detail. I would then NOT have to rely on a second file, and the relationships and poor editability that are then tied to it, to be managed for a DWG to include an exploded view.

The biggest downside to this whole process is, OFTEN, exploded views are created for a DWG purpose to better illustrate something in a DWG or assembly detail, etc. I realize that they are also often used for other technical literature/documentation, but that SHOULD be a different program/file/environment - that type of environment typically has different function requirements than for CAD DWGs. If it is something related to a specific drawing, it is frustrating having to make a change to the assembly (i.e. adding a new part/component), to go update the IPN, potentially re-do the whole IPN due to the inability to easily edit or rearrange things in both the tree and story-board (story-board due to inability to do multi-group select) and back to drawing, etc. And, because I can't do configurations or Levels of Detail, I now have to have multiple files to control the various exploded states I desire. So, when I create a drawing, there are now many update/touch points that have to be managed more so than having editability functionality within the IAM.

Indeed, it is a missing functionality. It was available in IPN before 2018. But, it was not ported forward. I share your disappointment and I wish the workflow was still available. So do quite a few users trying to leverage the same workflow.

In certain part of Inventor, you do see incomplete solutions. I would be lying if I said otherwise. The first thing is to acknowledge the deficiency. How and when to solve it is a separate issue. For this particular case, we have gathered enough feedback on the need to have Auto-Explode like workflow. It is a matter of prioritization.

It would be nice if that functionality was available in an IAM, and NOT just an IPN file requirement. A user would then be able to just create a custom view of the model in the DWG process and save as a view/level of detail in the IAM... the IPN would only be required for literature/technical doc, or non-engineering related requirements...

Then came the people behind TSLRCM project and did what seemed impossible. After years hard work by all people involved in it, final result is here: TSLRCM 1.8.5 . KOTOR 2 is closer to its finished state and Obsidian's vision than ever before.

So, what is this than actually for? Well, the way I see it, instead of the broken, dirty gem TSL was before, now with TSLRCM, it's the large shinning diamond, just a little rough on the few edges. This is made to polish it around a little...

It's seems to me that in their vision to restore as much cut content, TSLRCM crew got a little carried away and restored even things that seem that weren't left out because of short development time, but actually CUT from game, because authors had some other and better ideas, or simple they didn't thought that those fit in the game in general way.
Now, I don't claim to know what was Obsidian's original vision better than anybody else, especially TSLRCM guys, but there are some things that bothered me during the playthrough and which seamed jarring and out of place to me, so I have made this Tweak Pack for my personal usage, and also for everyone else who feels the same way about those particular things.

Of course, this is ultimately thing of personal preference, so I have made this pack modular so you can install only things that you want and leave others as they are (modular parts are installed with TSL Patcher), but have also provided all-in-one setup for those that want it all.

As you probably know, TSLRCM returned cut character of padawan Kaeve, whose laigreks stole the farming equipment from farmer Suulru on Dantoine, instead of scavenger Jorran who insisted that Suulru should give him extra money for his vaporator, which was the case in the published version of the game.

I like the general idea behind Kaeve, and voice-over done for her by Usagi was fine, but the main problem with her is that her dialogue seams, well... not well written in the first place, it feels incomplete and not well thought through. It seems to me that she was abandoned in earlier part of production and wholly discarded as an idea, and that's why Obsidian eventually recorded voice-over for Jorran's and Suulru's new lines instead of making some for Keave. Don't get me wrong, TSLRCM crew did a good job of restoring what was in the files, but it seems that there wasn't a lot of quality material to restore in the first place...
