Hi everyone,
Thanks again for your active participation in last night's session. I think we raised a lot of important questions around the issue of biblical criticism; here are a few that have stuck with me:
1) Should we care who wrote the Bible? What is at stake with this issue?
2) Should we teach this in day schools and if so, how?
3) What opinions on this issue are outside the pale of Orthodoxy?
4) What are the limits of cognitive dissonance?
5) What approach do you personally connect to, and what does that mean for your religious identity?
Feel free to respond with a reaction to any of these questions, another question you're asking, or thoughts on the article by Dr. Jackson that Rabbi Helfgot handed out.
As always, feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.
Looking forward to continuing the conversation!
