Wellthat was an exciting watch of Season 1 (Parts 1 and 2) of The Money Heist! I totally get the hype and the love this show and its characters have gotten after watching the first heist go underway! And with that, welcome to another edition of Explore With Me / The Couch Potato!
Now this post will be an overview of all the things that happened in Season 1 as well as my review on the same. This obviously contains spoilers so if you want more detailed recaps or spoiler free reviews, just check out the main post on The Money Heist for all the links!
The main part of the show was obviously about the heist. Season 1 focuses on Sergio Marquina AKA The Professor who gathers a group of robbers and experts for a well planned heist into the Royal Mint of Spain. All the members go by nicknames of famous cities around the world and do not divulge any details about each other. Each member plays a crucial role in order for the execution of the heist which I will explain later.
The main idea of the heist was to ambush a vehicle that is carrying paper refills to the mint and take over the place. Once all the hostages (including a VIP hostage, the daughter of the British Ambassador, Alison Parker), have been captured, the hostages and the robbers dress up in red jumpsuits and Dali masks. The hostages are provided with fake guns while the robbers enter with a strong armoury of weapons bought from the dark web. Due to this, the police are unable to identify who is who and stalls on breaking into the mint.
Of course the one action the Professor never fathomed was falling in love with Racquel as he approached her for more information on the heist so much so that he wastes a lot of time bound in the house in Toledo telling her the entire truth when he could have easily disarmed her, as well as letting her go even she had found the location of his hangar and the escape route for the heist. Eventually Racquel sides with the gang and The Professor and the her reunite in Palawan Island in the Philippines.
Yes, it is the middle of the biggest ever heist but the two manage to have their ups and downs only for Monica to side with the gang in a crucial moment. She decides to pick the name of Stockholm (as the rest of the gang suspected she had Stockholm syndrome, and not love) and escapes the heist with Denver, pregnant.
Arturo meanwhile, was our comedic releif throughout the entire series as he gets shot by the police and surgeons are ushered in. His love is tested and Monica eventually realises what he felt which drove her more to Denver. Arturo despite being at the sharp observation of the gang tried many attempts to escape and even succeeded to have a number of hostages escape too but for the gang he was just a pain that they had to strap with fake bombs to just make him stya still and not instigate the other hostages. He is one of the hostages forced to go down the fake exit as well, which is where we see him last.
Nairobi is the expert of counterfeit money in the group and the one responsible for the actual printing and verification of the bills. She is revealed to have a son she lost when arrested when selling drugs only for him to be sent a foster home. Her dream is to take him back once she has enough money to give him a good life. During the heist , Nairobi was mostly the stable one, emotionally and trusted the Professor even in doubtful situations. She even led the movement to take down Berlin and lead, only for her to give it back to him later, towards the end of the heist.
Helsinki and Oslo are cousins who previously worked in the army. They were mostly in charge of the hostages and building the cake exit. However Oslo gets attacked while the hostages escape and goes into a vegetative state forcing Helsinki to end his life.
Money Heist was a worldwide hit when it came to Netflix in 2017. The show paid attention to all the characters we came to love. Although under difficult circumstances, the show was successful in delivering in its third season an entertaining and extravagantly illustrated heist. The bank provided a great setting for this to take place, and when the season drew to a close, viewers were left with major questions about the future of the series. Viewers wanted the next season.
Despite being killed in a fire fight with police at the end of Season 2, Berlin has remained a part of the show through flashbacks and this continues into the final season, which is available to stream in full now.
He does this alongside Palermo (Rodrigo de la Serna), who worked with him on the robbery's logistics, from how they could get Spain's gold reserve out of the vault to the way in which it would be removed to a secure location undetected.
But that's not all there is to Berlin's storyline in the season, as he is also shown embarking on a separate heist with his son Rafael (Patrick Criado), his fifth wife Tatiana (Diana Gmez), Marseille (Luka Peroš), and Bogot (Hovik Keuchkerian).
It has also been explained that Berlin was the mastermind for multiple heists and Season 5 revealed the character only went to prison once, for vandalism after smashing a bar in rage when he learned of Tatiana and Rafael's relationship.
Berlin's professional relationship with Palermo, Marseille and Bogot may also be developed more fully in the prequel, and his colorful love life, including four other wives, could also be featured since they were only referenced to briefly in Money Heist.

Hope you all are doing great and having a wonderful time, today is friday and Fridays mark the beginning of the weekend which means free time from work for most people and more time for family, friends and fun. Well, i guess i did had loads of fun today considering i was able to complete the most anticipated series of the year.
I am talking about money heist or perhaps what many would prefer to call Bella Ciao, the season ended on a very sad note and Spoiler Alert the season 5 too did same. I am just wondering how things would fare now, i was even sad when it ended and simply want more but then i have to wait till 3rd December to get the volume two. Such suspense, but what can i say except to wait. So i will wait.
I spent my afternoon in town with my friend who drove us in his church minivan since he was the chief driver and had access to it. We were on the lookout for a 3 piece suit that i could wear for my graduation pictures and he had some shops he thought we could visit. We didn't wanna walk so we fueled the car so we can just make quick turn in town and come.
At the Shop we had to try on so many suits because many looked so beautiful but eventually we were able to get one for which we packaged and brought back to the hostel. I got myself some jollof with i enjoyed with a bag of Ceres Drink and the last two episodes of money heist. It was a good day and although it rained for most part of the day and money heist ended on a sad note, still enjoyed it.
Over five seasons, Money Heist (La Casa De Papel) has become one of Netflix's biggest international hits, and the Spanish thriller drew to a climactic end with the recent release of Money Heist season five, part two.
As was to be expected, the first half of the final season had ended on a major cliffhanger, and so fans were more eager than ever to find out what happened after the devastating death of female lead, Tokyo (rsula Corber).
The Professor's hostage Alicia Sierra takes advantage of the fallout from Tokyo's death to stage a brief escape, but ultimately enters into an uneasy alliance with her rival when it becomes clear that Colonel Tamayo will have no part in helping her rebuild her life.
The team inside the Bank of Spain set about transporting the gold ingots, which they have melted into tiny pebbles, from out of the maximum security institution. They intend to do so by sending it through the sewers to an underground storm tank using an industrial sized pressure pump they stole from an offshore oil rig at an earlier time.
The Professor, Sierra, Marseille, Benjamin and the rest of the outside team are working away at the aforementioned stormwater tank, turning the gold pebbles from the Bank of Spain back into ingots so they can be transported more easily.
But the police are hot on their trail, having figured out that their smuggling plan involves moving gold through the pipes underneath the bank, arriving heavily armed at the hideout to end this elaborate heist.
Not wishing to see any more bloodshed, the Professor orders his team to surrender, with the cops cuffing them all and placing them in the back of a police van where they are then left waiting. For quite a while.
They step out to find that there are no police cars at all, only a set of flashing blue lights and a speaker blaring out a siren sound effect, while the gold they had been working on is nowhere to be seen.
Then it dawns on the Professor that the people who had stormed in earlier weren't police at all, but rival thieves who had stolen the 90 ton gold horde for themselves and scarpered to whereabouts unknown. Cue: facepalms all round.
There's only one person it can be: Berlin's son, Rafael, who up to now we had only seen in flashback, working in partnership with his father's ex-wife, who had heard all about the Bank of Spain heist years earlier at the height of their romance.
Following this epic deception, The Professor and his team set about recovering their gold, tracing Rafael's rival robbers to a nearby quarry, where their lorries have been emptied of all gold ingots and abandoned. Oh dear!
