The Mario 64 port for 351ELEC and ArkOS is working lovely on the V but needs a little tweak to map the yellow C buttons to the Dpad. These are used to adjust the camera position and look around. This new mapping also changes other buttons to match the original controller layout and make the bum stomp easier to do:

As a note, if you're on ArkOS and using the secondary SD card, you'll need to drop the gamecontrollerdb.txt file into the /roms/ports/sm64/controller/ folder as as opposed to the usual /roms2/ports/sm64/controller/ folder. Unfortunately it's hardcoded to look in that location.

It's also why to compile it you need to provide your own Super Mario 64 rom to extract the copyrighted assets necessary to turn it into a playable port of Super Mario 64. It's the finished effort that's illegal to distribute, not the source code that was independently created that doesn't infringe on any Nintendo copyright.

This is really cool. Haven't seen it in action yet. Port of Super Mario World from 65816 assembly to C, the aim is for a PC port. Hopefully this will pave the way for enhanced source ports with widescreen support and such (there's already a widescreen patch for the SNES version) and ports to other platforms (3DS maybe. Or imagine a DOS port, I think Doomkid would be interested in that.)

"It is always morally correct to p***** Nintendo games." In all seriousness though the console to PC ports that have been coming out are awesome. I do think it's only a matter of time before Nintendo starts cracking down on this stuff though, especially since they are trying to push the online service with the classic systems.

Yeah the Super Mario World modding scene is almost as big as Doom's. The SM64 stuff was kinda disappointing to me because after that golden period when it first came out, there wasn't much else. The source ports never got as advanced as I'd like them to be (nothing like GZDoom is for Doom) and the advanced source ports that did exist required a lot of setup otherwise the game pretty much felt like vanilla. I'm hoping that a lot more will come out of this.

I was unaware of this, I had thought that they went after the people who reverse engineered it as well. Good to know. It would great if this PC port opened the doors for more powerful Mario World editors and hacks/edits. The tools for Mario World rom hacking are already pretty powerful, but it would be nice to see a level/object editor that was a little more streamlined. I hope that more games are ported as well, DKC would be fantastic.

The same guy or team also ported Zelda 3 and it looks like they're doing Super Metroid as well. Super Mario Kart is what I'd be interested in as it would open the door of opportunity for online multiplayer source ports.

I found this to be the most fun part of the whole process. The developer of this port created an online builder tool specifically for this port. All you have to do is visit a webpage, follow a few notes, and voilà, the builder will decompile and build a zip file from your SM64 game file.
