I have tried the bluetooth drivers supplied by Windows update and the latest Broadcom drivers directly from the Broadcom updater software. The problems persist (I can rule out any further configuration issues or alternative device drivers, I have tried every possibility).

To my knowledge there used to be Toshiba Bluetooth stack for non-Toshiba hardware, but the older versions I have found on the internet do not install, they do not seem to recognize the bluetooth hardware when installing the driver.

Here is what I finally did to solve the problem:I did not find any other bluetooth stack, besides the ones mentionend in the first post. I then kept on experimenting with the Microsoft and the Widcomm stack, until I broke my registry. I made a mistake a long the way, but it still seems to be a reasonable way to go: how to remove bluetooth entries from registry

Next I took an older version of the Toshiba stack and tried it with a secondary bluetooth adapter. Things still did not work properly, but at least it installed in trial mode. Next step was to make the Toshiba stack work with my inbuilt adapter. I added the relevant vendor and product id into tosrfusb.sys and overrode the driver manually. Worked.

As Martin mentoined, Toshiba bluetooth stack can be used with non-Toshiba hardware.Broadcomm drivers making my windows 7 unusable so I tried installing Toshiba driver. Here's the steps.

I recently purchased something called an Aircable Host XR - a USB-connected bluetooth transmitter - for use on a win-xp system. It came with absolutely zero software (no CD, no drivers, etc). There apparently is no drivers needed when connecting it to an XP system.

I finally found a bluetooth stack with working "high quality audio" and possibly stereo(I don't have stereo speakers to test ). Using Widcomm 5.0.1.2800 from here -28-of-BTW-5-0-1-2800-Compal-zip/3000-2110_4-143931.html

The fIle btaudio.inf was written specifically for Win98/ME. Maybe this inf can be a model for other stacks to have working high quality audio like the 5.1 versions. I'm using IOGEAR USB bluetooth model GBU221, Class 2 Device ID VID_0a5c&PID_2101 which is licensed with this stack. Shows as Broadcom 2405 in device manager.

I can look into this issue for you, when you get this error is it when running a VI? Also could you look in device manager > bluetooth for me and let me know which drivers are installed for your system?

Bluetooth drivers, also known as a Bluetooth stack, are essential for the Bluetooth adapter on a computer to communicate with Bluetooth-enabled devices such as mobile phones, Bluetooth-enabled printers, keyboard, mice, and so on.

Switch between different bluetooth stacks in just several seconds or less, with two mouse clicks. No reboot required. Note, Bluetooth Stack Switcher does not contain any bluetooth drivers, all needed bluetooth stacks should be already installed and configured.

Features of Bluetooth Stack Switcher

  • Package does not include Bluetooth stack drivers.
  • Supports Bluesoleil
  • Supports Microsoft's Windows Bluetooth Stack.
  • Supports Toshiba Bluetooth Stack.
  • Supports Widcomm Bluetooth Software.
Compatibility and LicenseBluetooth Stack Switcher is provided under a freeware license on Windows from Bluetooth software with no restrictions on usage. Download and installation of this PC software is free and 1.1.0.85 is the latest version last time we checked.

On my new Win10 Laptop I am not able to get the appropriate level of Bluetooth device support for my phone. This appears to be due to a lack of drivers for the "Other Devices" that are installed when pairing my phone. On my Windows 7 device with the Broadcom drivers stack the device pairs fine and I can remotely play music from my phone through to my PC and connected audio system. Currently on Windows 10 (1703) when I pair the phone I am not able to do this. Several "other devices" are present in device manager.

I feel this issue is due to the use of a Microsoft Bluetooth stack and not the "classic" Broadcom stack, but I'm not able to force an install of the Broadcom stack on Windows 10 because the software no longer exists on the manufacturer's website. Is there any way to force a Broadcom driver rather than the Microsoft/Intel conglomeration that appears to be the default?

EDIT: Sloanstar Reading online, it seems the Bluetooth* profile A2DP SINK, required to stream audio from a paired device through the computer is missing from Windows 10* Bluetooth* stack. This profile is not present on the Intel Bluetooth* driver either, the computer can stream audio to a device, but cannot receive audio. As far as we know, this is mainly for security reasons and avoid unauthorized call recordings. You can find some examples here:

One way to get bluetooth working is by installing a 3rd party bluetooth stack, by default most bluetooth software would not detect Apple built-in bluetooth devices. But there are some workarounds, one of them is via Toshiba bluetooth stack:

By the time being I can connect all my bluetooth devices thanks to Toshiba stacks. However I have to resign the touch scrolling. Any work arroung you can came up for getting the Magic Mouse scrolling with this otherwise nice BT stack from Toshiba?

This worked on my Mackbook air mid - 2011Windows 7 x64. Be aware that you will loose the "magic scrolling" in case you are using a bluetooth magic mouse. Otherwise all bluetooth devices have been working as a chram with the Toshiba stack.

Q: MS08-030 - does this affect 3rd party stacks like the Toshiba Bluetooth stack? Do 3rd party drivers require the vulnerable Microsoft code to operate?
A: The update is specific to the MS Bluetooth stack on windows client operating systems, and 3rd party Bluetooth stacks may or may not be affected depending on their implementation. For example the Windows Mobile Bluetooth stack is different from the windows stack and is not exposed to the same vulnerability and is not affected. As far as a 3rd party Bluetooth stack goes, if their stack takes a dependency on the Windows Stack than they could be vulnerable.

The harp(4) driver has been added. This is a pseudo physical interface driver for HARP, which attachesto all NetGraph ATM interfaces in the system and presents aphysical interface to the HARP stack for each of theseinterfaces.
