Heyim looking to get a stella swb 5000 or 6000 -not sure what model would be best for all around fishing - xg-pg-hg... would like to pair it with a gloomis rod and be able to use for inshore - beach-jetty-and boat if possible , but not sure what size rod or model would be the most versatile here. any info would be greatly appreciated ...

5000 offers no advantages unless you don't want to pay for more line and the hg would be the best all around reel. I personally like my PG and use it for everything and get away with it by reeling faster, but isn't ideal for lure fishing. That torque though is nice. My Stella is paired with a FSC 1087 for my versatile go to combo. Will never buy another Loomis because they screwed me on warranties twice and will not support them, so can't help there

For general use I'd say 6000 HG is about right, xg is too fast for me for most presentations and lacks winding power, the pg feels the best under load but there are times where it feels really slow like on a long drift where you need to quickly reel in and get back into the action zone. HG is the happy compromise and seems the most popular gear ratio choice from what I've seen.

Why do you want a 5k SWB to begin with over a 6k? Z I believe has a 5k SW which was only American model and bought the JDM 6k spool for capacity. Unless you need backup spool or want less capacity, that idea doesn't have much functionality

If you already have the c5000xg, why in the world would you even want the swb5000xg? That doesn't make much sense at all....unless you just have $$$ to burn and wanna do it that way. The 2018 c5000xg has about the same line capacity as the swb5000....200 against 225 of 30lb braid. If anything, you should be looking at the swb6000.....or at least that's what I would be looking at to step things up a bit. Then, again, I have NO idea whatsoever what you are fishing for or where....so only guessing here. So take this chatter with a grain of salt LoL.

@zcoker i hear ya and what your saying makes sense but i have the c5000xg on the shorter nrx inshore rod and was looking to put the sw5000 on a longer and a bit more versatile rod if that makes sense that i can use in the surf and off the jetties etc. i will be using it mostly for stripers and mahi's and the occasional pain in the butt bluefish lol. im gonna pick up the sw6000hg and considering the fsc 1087 or 1087x .but not sure which one . been reading some on the forum about the 2 but always so many options out there. i like quality gear and can afford it so why not ...

Well, then, why don't you just use the same Stella c5k you have now on different rods? That's a very nice reel you got there for the area. That's what I do here in S. Florida with my 6k, which makes sense in my book. When I pull out the surf rod, I slap my 6k on it. When I'm working plugs in the inlet on an inshore rod, I slap the same 6k on it. Or if I'm on a bridge in the Keys, same 6k slapped on another rod. I could get a few more 6k's tomorrow if I wanted to but I can't justify the reasoning in doing something like that other than to have a bunch of 6k's on a bunch of different rods sitting around. I have other Stella's for other situations but none are the same. Regardless, that's your call and probably makes sense to you and you alone. Seems like you already have things figured out, I guess. Best of luck to ya.

I don't believe the handles on the freshwater models are compatible with the SW models. Atleast the FD series won't swap out with the current SW (I tried). You might be able to swap a JD 4000 SW handle with a 5000 but these handles are very expensive (over $200 with a carbon fiber knob). Every now and then on eBay, I've seen a factory Shimano Stella handle that has a smaller knob designed for the 5000 SW priced around $150.

Forgot to add that I haven't had any premature bail closure issues with the current handle on the 5000 SW. However I agree that the knob is oversized for this reel. Also check eBay for smaller aftermarket knobs that fit the SW models.

Where the handle shines is when you hook into larger fish. I've found that having that extra grip, leverage, and control is a big help when your line is peeling off and you have that moment of panic when you think that there is no way a reel this size can handle what you're throwing at it.

The handle is fine. A first it felt weird, but pretty quickly I got used to it and now find myself liking the ergonomics. I use the reel on a 10' rod, however, and perhaps if it were on a small rod it would feel strange.

We aimed the larger Stella video light between two V-flats to give this sliver of light. The other two lights were placed behind-and-to-the-side of Alix to give rim lighting and with that, some separation from the darker background.

Within minutes of opening the kit, you can power the lights on, position them and be shooting. Everything you need for a shoot is included from stands to some basic modifiers. Combined with cameras that have Live View or when shooting tethered, there is no need for test shots as you can see exactly what the light is doing.

They can be used with the internal battery with run times varying based on the power that you are using. Regardless of power, they last for well over an hour on a full charge. Additionally, you can plug them in and use them for as long as you need.

I have been playing with similar lights from Intellytech, their Light Cannons. Im looking for the same rsults you are. Its encouraging to see newer LED lighting that can be this useful. Very good and timely post!

Hi! Heidi here from the manufacturer of the Stella lights, Light & Motion. As Kevin mentioned, our Pro models are the Stella Pro 5000 (lumens), Stella Pro 7000 (lumens), and the Stella Pro 10,000c (lumens). You can additionally add 3rd-party soft boxes from Profoto, Elinchrom, and Chimera for beautiful soft lighting. You can throw the diminutive Stella Pro10,000c into an umbrella to provide a massive amount of soft light! The DW-5000C is the original G-SHOCK model from 1983. The GMW-B5000 Series has inherited its characteristic square design and been given the full metal treatment along with upgraded features including smartphone linking. The watch has been given a full-metal case by using a shock-resistant fine resin cushioning material inserted between the case and the sturdy stainless steel metal bezel. High-density mounting technology also allows the watch to maintain its size. The back of the watch features a solid Screw Lock Back and has been DLC treated for resistance to wear. The metal band has been dimple processed, inheriting the Resin Band design of the original. Visibility too has been enhanced via use of a film solar cell and STN-LCD (liquid crystal). Function-wise, this model comes with Bluetooth communications and can link with a dedicated app to obtain precise time information. The watch is also packed with practical features including a time correction system that uses standard time and frequency signals (Multi-Band 6), a reliable source of power in the form of Tough Solar technology, high-luminance Full Auto LED backlighting, World Time and day of the week display in six languages. This is a G-SHOCK model that stays true to its predecessor while undergoing further refinement through the application of a full-metal design.

Fine-resin cushioning parts are inserted between the bezel case and the inner case. Besides achieving a highly accurate fit, this structure responds with reactive force to ease shocks when tiny protrusions in the cushioning material are compressed.

The double-lug structure conventionally used to connect the band to the case has been redesigned to create a three-pronged lug structure. Shocks to the connecting pipes and button shafts are dispersed, and the band attachment is reinforced.

The use of metal material requires the most advanced processing technologies to reproduce the design of the first G-SHOCK model. We apply leading-edge forging and cutting technologies in our commitment to evoking the beauty of finely inscribed details and to attaining a finish that maximizes the beauty of the metal textures.

The result is a level of quality that sets a new standard for tough watch design.

After sculpting the form through repeated forging, cutting and polishing, artisans apply mirror polishing and hairline finishing to the surfaces in pursuit of flawless beauty. The case back surface is finely machined to remove any unevenness and assure an accurate fit with the cushioning parts.

After a process involving 10 or more forging and cutting steps, a complex form with integrated lugs and complicated shapes comprising various fitted and cushioning parts takes shape. Precision parts facilitating smooth, accurate assembly are produced.
