Hello all. I just spent the last few hours reading the last few months
of posts and figured I'd chime in.

I'll start with my son. He will be four years old the end of this month.
I have known from the beginning he is an intellgent boy. I have seen him
do some pretty amazing things over the last few years. Now that he is in
school with his peers, I am really beginning to see just how smart he
really is.

At school he shows signs of great maturity and intellect. Upon reviewing
the Silverman/Waters Checklist ( as referenced via
http://www.gifteddevelopment.com/Articles/Characteristics_Scale.htm ), I
see he displays pretty much *all* of the characteristics listed.

He will play with his matchbox cars and line them up bumber to bumper,
matching appropriate colors and sizes of vehicles. He will play with his
legos ( ok, ok - *our* legos ;] ) and create structures symmetrical in
shape *and* color.

His memory is amazing, simply amazing.

He is extremely adept at playing advanced video games. His favorites are
the Tony Hawk Pro Skater games. He can recognize the skaters from the
video game when he sees the same skaters on television.

He socializes pretty well, though he does tend to get along better with
adults.

His vocabulary is extensive for a four year old.

There are many more details to note, but that should suffice for now.

I would like to find some good references for material I can read so I can
be able to better teach him at home and continually challenge his brain.
Also, I would like to see if I can get him tested. The WPPSI-R is the only
test I know of conducted for children his age. Where can I find a suitable
testing location? ( My son lives in central New Jersey, just outside of
New York City. )

We can hold off on my details for now, as I am more concerned about helping
my son.

Thank you all - I am greatly overjoyed there is somewhere I can discuss
these matters and receive feedback.

Regards,
- Terry
