The year was 1895. Cassel Goorin, a visionary master craftsman, made
his first hat sale off a horse cart in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Little did he know that his tiny hat venture would evolve into a
century-old headwear industry named Goorin Brothers.
Cassel became famous to hat aficionados because of his ability to
design special hats for each customer. He had the knack to put the
right feather, sew in the correct lining, and change an entire block
pattern. True enough, he made “one of a kind” hats. As the years
progressed, Cassell’s sons began to look over the company’s tradition
of making unique hats. When these two siblings began to take over the
business, they relocated to San Francisco in 1949 and changed the name
of the company to Goorin Brothers.
