I am transitioning from using ProShow Producer to PTE AV Studio. In Pro Show there were huge numbers of transitions and many different styles. It seems the PTE AV Studio is a bit more limited in this regard. In particular, I used to create presentations which had styles where I could use multiple slides at one time either side by side or even in a carousel if the subject was similar. I am looking for that capability in PTE AV Studio. Is PTE AV Studio limited to styles where there is only one picture displayed at one time or can there be multiple pictures displayed at once? If there is that capability, how do I find it? Thanks.

Hi GPC You find what is standard uder the Styles & Themes tab, yours could be in a different place than the screen shot, you can move it to where it's best for you. In addition to the basics shown, you can create your own or use one of the many donated by members.

I was in a similar situation last year when I bit the bullet and was finally abandoning MemoriesOnTv since the original developers stopped developing this a number of years ago. After searching around for what would be a suitable replacement I ended up picking PTE. It took a while for me to get as comfortable with PTE as I was with MOTV and you can search for my numerous posts about this on this forum in several places. MOTV was extremely user friendly and intuitive with a bunch of built-in easy to select transitions and effects for images (or groups of images on a single slide) and I suspect ProShow had a similar approach. I believe the audience for each of these products was somewhat different. MOTV was definitely geared towards folks that merely wanted to take their photos and videos and put together a decent presentation for friends and family. You could essentially do this within about an hour of first installing the program given its intuitiveness. Again I suspect ProShow was the same thing.

On the other hand I had not realized there was such a huge audience of very serious end-users out there these days that are more semi-professional/competitive/serious hobbyist types that took putting together a slide show much more seriously. IMHO PTE seems geared much more to those users with an emphasis on getting under the hood and creating your own effects, even though there are some built-in effects that can be used. And for those that don't want to get their hands dirty there are effects that have been created by others that are available for download from various places. Just as an editorial comment I think getting too deep into the weeds with fancy transitions and styles sort of gets in the way of the photos and videos that you are showing--kind of like the gearheads that get so technically involved in PhotoShop to produce the "perfect" image.

Thanks everyone for your response to this. I was able to download a few from several sources. I use to create some styles in Pro Show Producer but don't have time to learn PTE to that level of detail as I have a wedding for my son coming up in a few weeks for which I am creating a slide show.

Okay! While Photopia Creator has improved significantly, it still has issues. The biggest issue for me right now is changing slide times after applying a slide style imported from ProShow. ProShow asked if you wanted to apply the slide time to the style. Phoptopia Creator doesn't do that. But, to make matters really bad, when you try to change the slide time it won't let you. When you try to make the time change the slide time resets to 0.0 and that's that. You are now dead in the water. The timeline underneath that slide disappears. I have not found a fix for this issue. Has anyone else? We need help here Joshua. Please. What can we do?

2) Slide Timing Changes: We've seen this issue before, where the slide duration field intermittently fails to accept input, and addressed that problem in a previous build. I see that you've reached out on this same issue through our Contact Us form so we'll continue troubleshooting with you by eMail.

You should be able to change the timing on a slide by clicking in one of the time fields (incoming transition, slide, outgoing transition) in the "Slides" list, typing in a new number, then pressing the Enter key on your keyboard (or clicking elsewhere in the program). If this is not working, please reach out through the Contact Us form on our website and we'll be happy to take a closer look.

I have used Photodex from it's inception here in Texas, so I have prior experience. I also realize there changes I will have to learn. So, please let me know as soon as you can as I have just acquired some additional work.

I have tried the manage media/import feature, but this pack is an "exe" file and isn't recognized. Does anyone have any idea how to import an exe Proshow Style Pack? It's called "StylePack- Vintage" and was created around 2011. Thanks

While the slide styles from that product can be imported into Creator / Director, you'll first need to get them installed onto your system from that EXE file. Our software can read the slide style (PXS) files but not the EXE installer itself.

Once those effects are installed, use the "Import from ProShow" option available from the pop-up window that appears when loading Creator / Director. That should automatically import all of the installed ProShow effects on your computer.

Is it possible to import the purchased Proshow effects packs into Photopia Director? I see Director has many slide styles and transitions seen in Proshow, but would like to use the ones I've purchased for Proshow.

Thank you for your responses. I followed your suggestion and was able to import some styles from Proshow to Director. But it would not let me import any of the purchased package styles (said invalid files for Director). I emailed Photopia support and asked if previously purchased Proshow packs could be imported but haven't heard from them yet.

I received a reply to my email from Joshua at Photopia. Found the "import from Proshow" in pop up window when starting Photopia. It worked! Imported all the purchased style/effects packs previously purchased in Proshow. Thanks Joshua!

Hi Jen, pop up may be the wrong terminology. When you first open the program in the upper right hand corner there will be a dropdown menu, click on that to get to the ProShow Import choices, see below.

Hi Jen, I have not used any of the .pkg files from Proshow but what happens if you right click on the file, do you get an option to "extract all"? If so then create a folder of your choice and extract all into that folder. Then see if Photopia can find them by browsing to that folder.

Photopia can import a variety of ProShow file types including PSH (slideshows), PXS (slide styles), PXT (transitions), and a number of other formats. My understanding is that the PKG files you're working with are effectively text files used by ProShow to define the metadata (file names, sizes, etc.) for slide style, transition, image, and other files that could then be downloaded from Photodex servers. They don't contain the actual effect (or image) files themselves, which would have been stored separately on the local system once downloaded.

Look for the corresponding (PXS / PXT) effect files in these folders on the computer where ProShow is installed. Those files can be manually copied over to the computer where Photopia is installed then imported through the "Manage Effects" window, using the "Import" button therein.

How do you copy or snyc the slide styles. I found a slide style, applied it to the first slide, no problem. I tried selecting all of the slides, but then slide style is no longer available. I tried right click and syncing, I tried copy slide settings, but slide style is not an option. I tried searching for style within this forum. Nothing.

I have been a Proshow users, also owned producer, and taught people how to use Proshow gold for many many years. I just downloaded Creator. It is right off the top, harder to maneuver around than Proshow.

To apply a slide style to multiple slides, first select each of those slides. Once that selection is in place, right-click on any slide from that selection and choose the "Select Style" option from the resulting menu. This will bring up a slide style selection window, which targets each of the selected slides when a style is applied.

We'll look into 'select all' request for the Copy Settings window. I know that there is a 'copy to all slides' (or 'layers') in at least most of the right-click menus that contain the copy menu, in case that helps for now.

In addition to the masking techniques, the course includes a bonus lecture on styles, transitions, and other goodies, providing you with a comprehensive set of tools and resources to elevate your ProShow Producer projects.

Additionally, the course covers other useful updates like Vignette Presets, a Color Variation drop-down menu, font defaults for individual shows, improved publish options with navigation and queuing, and a publish history feature.

The course will teach you advanced techniques like creating an outline cutout title using inverted transparency masking, adjusting opacity in solid layers, applying vignette settings, keyframing, and controlling caption motion.
