A record 32.2 million people….received food stamps at latest count,
the government said on Thursday, a reflection of the recession now in
its 16th month.Food stamps are the major U.S. antihunger program and
help poor people buy groceries. The average benefit was $112.82 per
person in January.

The January figure marks the third time in five months that enrollment
set a record.

And the American Recession is only now starting to truly kick in. The
Greater Depression looms. How bad will it be this time next year? Will
we see surreal headlines discussing “The American Famine”?

Every neighbourhood in the country should be planting community food
gardens, indoors or outdoors, right now. Vacant lots in cities across
American should be geurilla-gardened into a local food supply.

If you have even only one window in your apartment that gets direct
sunlight, you have no excuse not to be growing something now you may
one day need to eat.
