CSP is a versatile digital painting program great for painting and inking with many unique features.
One of my favourites is the perspective ruler which is super useful and convenient for planning or drawing backgrounds!
Is it possible to, or is it an intended future addition to be able to have open images in multiple undockable windows? I frequently want to cut and paste from one image to another / edit images side by side and I don't see a way to do this currently.
Hi, I love Paint.NET. I use it all the time, and have donated. Could you please consider making it possible to be able to see two images at the same time? I would really like to see both at the same time, for instance today I am trying to reverse-engineer a fuzzbox I made 20 years ago, by looking at the front and the back of the circuit card at the same time, and tag the parts I have scribed into the schematic with a transparent yellow mark on each image. It makes me lose my orientation to have to click between the single images. Please look into having multiple windows. Thanks!
You've created your window. Now you want to show something inside it. In Windows terminology, this is called painting the window. To mix metaphors, a window is a blank canvas, waiting for you to fill it.
Sometimes your program will initiate painting to update the appearance of the window. At other times, the operating system will notify you that you must repaint a portion of the window. When this occurs, the operating system sends the window a WM_PAINT message. The portion of the window that must be painted is called the update region.
You are only responsible for painting the client area. The surrounding frame, including the title bar, is automatically painted by the operating system. After you finish painting the client area, you clear the update region, which tells the operating system that it does not need to send another WM_PAINT message until something changes.
In our first example program, the painting routine is very simple. It just fills the entire client area with a solid color. Still, this example is enough to demonstrate some of the important concepts.
Start the painting operation by calling the BeginPaint function. This function fills in the PAINTSTRUCT structure with information on the repaint request. The current update region is given in the rcPaint member of PAINTSTRUCT. This update region is defined relative to the client area:
The details of FillRect are not important for this example, but the second parameter gives the coordinates of the rectangle to fill. In this case, we pass in the entire update region (the rcPaint member of PAINTSTRUCT). On the first WM_PAINT message, the entire client area needs to be painted, so rcPaint will contain the entire client area. On subsequent WM_PAINT messages, rcPaint might contain a smaller rectangle.
When we got the first computer on our hands, as a kid, we were intrigued with MS paint. It was the one application that made us aware that digitally we could unleash our creativity. All of us, especially the 90s kids were a bit disheartened when we learned that Microsoft will stop supporting MS paint very soon, in order to promote Paint 3D, that comes with windows 10. Although Paint is still available in Windows, eventually Microsoft plans to remove it permanently and only keep it as a Windows store product for users who still wants to use MS Paint.
Those of us who still want to make MS Paint a part of their life, the next best thing is in store. Behold MS Paint online. It is an easy to use web-based application, the look and feel of which is exactly like MS Paint. Not only that, the user interface of MS Paint online resembles the version of MS Paint used in older versions of windows. With the color pallet located at the bottom and classical sidebar icons, the app promises you the old Windows Classic experience. I personally checked out the tool and found it working properly in all major browsers without any cross-browser compatibility issues.
What is the trick for painting windows without taping or scraping? Masking Liquid H2O. I ordered this product from my local Ace Hardware and it was there within a day, but you can also order it from Amazon!
When it was completely dry, I painted the exterior of the window using Benjamin Moore Regal Select Exterior Paint. Not having to worry about being too neat or careful made this job so much faster and easier to do!
We let it dry overnight. I could hardly wait to get outside the next morning to see how this product worked! My husband and I took turns scoring along the edges of the window panes with a utility knife and then peeling back the film. It was actually fun! (Is that weird that I think painting windows is fun?)
This is the BEST idea ever! We have a shed that we put some very old windows in and I have been both wanting to paint them and totally dreading the idea. Now I can without completely hating the job. Thank you!! Pinned.
Last week I painted my living room a beautiful black color that completely transformed the space. And once I saw how good that looked, I had to continue into the kitchen. Ok, not the entire kitchen, just the trim work (full video here). Among that trim work, was a beautiful french door that was screaming to be painted. Painting windows and doors can be a logistical nightmare, but luckily the internet had the best hack.

Before you start, test your paint flow on a scrap piece of paper, wood, etc. You want to make sure you have a smooth finish. Then run your hands over all of the tape you applied on the windows. The tape likes to pop loose sometimes. Then start applying your paint in slow, even strokes. I found it best to apply the paint on all the vertical pieces first and then switch the nozzle for the horizontal pieces. Make sure you get into all the grooves and look at the window frame from all angles to make sure you painted every square inch.
Another alternative is using pvc strips and cross pieces for more of a realistic look. I found these from New Panes where you can order in the quantity that you need. These pvc strips from New Panes can be painted so I used the Pro-Industrial paint to match the window frame color. These are measured, cut, and applied to the windows with either double sided tape or with blade clips.
How many of you are about to go running and paint all your windows black? I would totally jump in and help if I could. I would love to see your reaction when you peel back the tape and plastic and see your new black windows for the first time. Make sure to tag me on your socials if you try this and share! Get ready to have your mind blown. You can also watch the full process of prepping and painting the windows below.
When you open your window or your sliding glass door can you see the white frame still where the window overlaps? Or did you take the frame off some how to paint that portion of the window? This seems like more of an issue in the sliding glass door that will be opened more frequently.
Hi did you paint the exterior frame also? If not what does it look like from the outside. I would love to do this to my windows but I only want to do the inside. Can you see part of the black from the outside.
Thank you
Paint is a simple raster graphics editor that has been included with all versions of Microsoft Windows. The program opens, modifies and saves image files in Windows bitmap (BMP), JPEG, GIF, PNG, and single-page TIFF formats. The program can be in color mode or two-color black-and-white, but there is no grayscale mode. For its simplicity and wide availability, it rapidly became one of the most used Windows applications, introducing many to painting on a computer for the first time.
The version of Paint in Windows 7 and later features a ribbon in its user interface.[10] It also features "artistic" brushes composed of varying shades of gray and some degree of transparency that give a more realistic result. To add to the realism, the oil and watercolor brushes can only paint for a small distance before the user must re-click (this gives the illusion that the paintbrush has run out of paint). In addition, Paint can now undo up to 50 subsequent changes. It also has anti-aliased shapes, which can be resized freely until they are rasterized when another tool is selected. This version supports viewing (but not saving) transparent PNG and ICO file formats and saves files in the .png file format by default.
