Jamiroquai are a British funk and acid jazz band formed in 1992. Fronted by lead singer Jay Kay, Jamiroquai were initially the most prominent component in the early 1990s London-based acid jazz movement. Subsequent albums have explored other musical directions such as pop, rock, disco and electronica. Their best-known track is "Virtual Insanity", which won four awards at the 1997 MTV Video Music Awards. Jamiroquai have sold more than 26 million albums worldwide and won a Grammy Award in 1998.[1]
Dynamite is a little odd, and has stuff that would sounds like it came from any of their records. There are two bassists who supplied most of the lines, one with a Stingray I think. Another great album, though I find Jay's singing to be sub-par compared to the rest.
Jamiroquai has completed their new album, titled Automaton and it will be released on March 31.A first single has been chosen and they have already shot the video. Here is a list of new songs that may appear on the album:

Looks like some of my recently reported Jamiroquai news made it the Prince.org forum, I am a longtime Jamiroquai fan, 24 years of following the band, I also moderate the r/Jamiroquai subreddit on Reddit. (LINK: )
Thought I would add some more tidbits since the holidays 206/17 to this thread to keep all fans updated:
- According to an instagram photo (PICTURE: ) taken on JK's birthday, Dec. 30th 2016, by Roy March's wife (Roy The Roach; an old friend of JK from the 90s), they listened to the FINALIZED MASTERED 8th Jamiroquai album and it's TWO..counting TWO music videos preceding it. No release date was noted BUT she hinted that JK himself could be making a debut on social media soon with his own Instagram account. But Jamiroquai Bassist Paul Turner did said via Social Media that an 8th Jamiroquai album announcement by their new record is IMMINIENT!
- As for those +13 new songs I recently discovered on the ASCAP ACE Repertory site, two of them have been consensually dropped for consideration by I and my fellow Jamiroquai fans for being on the upcoming 8th Jamiroquai album tracklist. One fellow fan had a friend who visited JK/band at his studio during the 'Rock Dust Light Star' sessions and remembered seeing the provisional song "Nights Out In The Jungle" listed as a leftover song. And the other provisional, "Gettin' Down", turns out to have been a 'melodic/lyrical' fragment composition that would end up being used at the tailend of the RDLS song "She's A Fast Persuader". As for the rest of the remaining songs, mostly written by JK/Matt Johnson, are still yet to be confirmed as either new Jamiroquai/solo material. Here's the original infographic I made as a reference. (PICTURE: )
- As for the first music video, which was in production in England during early-mid December 2016, the first picture from this production was tweeted out by a Media Consultant named Rob Currie, ironically the tweet of the picture would later on be deleted along with his Twitter account. The picture would show off a NEW JK hat, a modified A Funk Odyssey Era JK Blade Hat whose blades have been retrofitted with NEW BLUE LED lighting and according to Roy March's wife, is 'robotic'. Here's the screen capture of the tweet picture in question: (PICTURE: ) & here's a picture from Jamiroquai Bassist Paul Turner's Facebook ironically showing off that new JK Hat (PICTURE: )
- And lastly, the OFFICIAL Jamiroquai website (LINK: ), which hadn't seen a 'remodel' since their 2010 album effort "Rock Dust Light Star", just had a new 'holding screen' pop up at the beginning of December 2016 with a solid white Buffaloman logo and the simple message 'We're Making Some Changes'. It hasn't changed since the holidays but they did launch a new e-mail 'Mailing list' for further news correspondence on the holding screen, so be sure to click on "Stay In The Loop" to sign up with it!
That's pretty much the main news as it stands for right now, be sure to stop on by the JAMIROQUAI Subreddit (Link Above) to stay updated on the latest Jamiroquai news and I also have a YouTube Channel, where I have been recording vlogs about all the latest Jamiroquai news/discussions about the past, present and future of the band here (LINK: ) , so please feel free to check out all those videos too!
OHHH and I nearly forgot to mention, Jamiroquai keyboardist Matt Johnson did post a small snippet video of him playing a mysterious vinyl acetate record, which would be figured out by a fellow fan of being recently 'mastered' in the UK, when asked if this was new Jamiroquai music, he simply commented with, "If I played the whole thing, I would have to kill you". Here's a link to that Instagram video:
BTW, since we're showing off videos, here are some to surely knock your socks off. A couple years ago, former Jamiroquai drummer, Nick Van Gelder, aired some highlights of his old Jamiroquai demotapes on his YouTube Channel. Here are a couple of those UNRELEASED Jamiroquai songs:

Jamiroquai are known for their singer with the funny hat, and for being one of the best dance music bands. List of the best Jamiroquai albums, including pictures of the album covers when available. This Jamiroquai discography is ranked from best to worst, so the top Jamiroquai albums can be found at the top of the list. To make it easy for you, we haven't included Jamiroquai singles, EPs, or compilations, so everything you see here should only be studio albums. If you think the greatest Jamiroquai album isn't high enough on the list, then be sure to vote for it so it receives the credit it deserves. Make sure you don't just vote for critically acclaimed albums; if you have a favorite Jamiroquai album, then vote it up, even if it's not necessarily the most popular.
The British band is known for its acid jazz meets jazz funk sound. Its debut album, Emergency on Planet Earth, came out in 1993, followed by Travelling Without Moving in 1996, which the mega hit, "Virtual Insanity." If you want to know the best Jamiroquai album of all time, or the top Jamiroquai albums, this list will answer your questions. Examples include Dynamite (2005) and The Return of the Space Cowboy (1994). These popular Jamiroquai CDs have been voted on by music fans around the world, so the order isn't just one person's opinion.
Whether intentional or not what Jamiroquai has done with this album is create the perfect circular economy where funk, soul, jazz and even pop feed each on other; and might continue to do so until all that is left is a slightly less than perfect reproduction of themselves that is still good fun but without the depth and honesty of the original version.
Automaton is an album then of our times. When you spend most of your time writing reviews you get quick and agile at pulling out comparisons, flatteries and imitations. Music is not created in a vacuum and so it is perfectly acceptable, I hope, to want to find the influences that have inspired a new generation of creative artists to make music. But this begs you to ask in an ominous Terminator backwards future type of way; what, made Automaton?

Hey Marcus, Stuart was given a cheque when he was younger by his mum for living etc. which he blew (or cleverly purchased, whichever way you look at it) on a Warwick Streamer Stage I 4 string. That was the bass he used on all of the first album as far as I'm aware apart from on When You Gonna Learn, which was Andrew Levy on bass. After that is was Stage I & II five strings, a Stage I 8-string, a Streamer fretless, a Musicman and a P-Bass. He had quite a few custom shops, a white Stage I with blue LEDs, the 'Iroquois' print Stage II, and the 'Godzilla' all chrome Stage I 5 with green LEDs for promo work and playing after Jamiroquai did the Godzilla soundtrack theme... he got booted out shortly before a lot of stuff of the 4th album got released and his tracks were erased, he got replaced with Nick Fyffe.
He's used Trace Elliot valve gear, Warwick, Mesa Boogie and Ampeg for amplification. His earlier effects were done on a Boss ME-6B and later he used the ME-8B.
Warwick IMO leant a lot to his sound, his amps etc. are kind of neither here nor there as I'm pretty certain it was straight to the desk with his sound in the studio, plus an ungodly amount of compression which always gave him that squashed sound that kind of popped out in the mix so well.
He was (is) a great player, I think there were plenty of issues with him and the rest of the band which led to his expulsion, I heard a lot of ego was involved which you can probably imagine in a band like that. I think that he might be on better terms with them now, he definitely is with Derrick McKenzie, their drummer. Hope that helps!
