So with DDM-1 using 100w 24v motors, what motor controller can I
safely use? How can I make it scalable or at least manageable? Can I
leverage the functional similarity between robot motion requirements
and the control requirements of a electric vehicle (EV)?
To answer these questions, and after a lot of searching and study, I
decided to develop a motor controller design tool so folks with limit
electronics background can make sure all the implicit derived
requirements are met. In other words, it is hard for hobbyists to see
some of their valuable research dollars go up in smoke (literally)
because a motor's stall current exceeded design specifications of the
controller.
I have a basic working model that I am not happy with yet, so I am
still searching for the write architecture and design. As a software
guy, I am not an expert in electronic circuits, so I have to become
more of one. This is taking time for me to get my object model
correct, balanced, and streamlined.
This thread will document my progress, successes, and failures.
