I see the behavior you describe also in the case where I post to the list by sending email to the list.

I believe if you email to the list, you won't see your own first post until someone replies?

yep, it won't email your own posts back to you, there's no point since any semi-intelligent email client will thread it all properly for you.

There may be a setting somewhere to enable that if you really want it to email you your own posts, I've never looked.

If you're worried that no-one is seeing posts that you email in, check that they appear in the web interface. Remember to give them some time to show up

Thanks for the responses.

That is all good but that is not the way it used to work. I am looking at gmail (where all the posts are emailed to) right now and all my posts, over the past 3 months or so, appear whether or not I was posting on someone else's topic or a starting a new thread just recently I have had this issue.

I take THs point on the rationale of not showing my original post until some one else answers it. However I am not getting an email when I reply to some one else's thread.  So looking through a thread I have emailed in to there is no record of me in the thread. I can see I have participated as my contribution is often in the email trail, but it does not show up in gmail which has threaded view. This is a change.

I addition to all of this Google groups for some reason reverted for one post only to sending it to my old y-email address which is very odd indeed. I have checked all the email settings in Google groups and they are as they should be.

It is all just a little odd

Al, I honestly don't know...  Google Groups (via the email interface, anyway) has always worked this way for me.  And, I am a member of two other G-groups besides this one.
Until someone replies to a post I send, I do not see my original.  (In one of my groups - which is a bunch of my IT buddies - I'll on occasion cross-reply into another thread, just to harass my buddies about ignoring my other "uber-important" post that no-one deemed worthy of replying to.)

Mayhaps you got some minor cooties on your system that jacked some of you GMail settings around.  Run a malware scan?

That is a gmail thing, not a MendelMax list specific thing. Gmail does
not show messages you send in your Inbox even if you receive them back
from a mailing list. You should be able to confirm they went through
by checking on the Google Groups page for the list.

I think it's when he initiates a thread.
Very first post doesn't show in his inbox until a reply occurs.
amirite?
(That's the way it's always been for me...)

Larry and mike Triffid has got it right.

But it seems this is an apple issue. I generally read all the posts on my iPhone. The reason for this is that it has a threaded view which yahoo mail does not. Since upgrading to IOS 6 it does not show any posts I make. This is a change.

About 3 months ago I switched everything over to a gmail account which is only used for all the google stuff groups, YouTube and the like. I still used the iphone over the gmail PC interface as I preferred it and I could use the GFs iPad!

I have just checked gmail on the PC and all shows correctly I have also downloaded the gmail app which also displays them correctly.

So it seems once again you buy apple and you takes your chances.
