Here's an interesting video of extracting 3d models from a single image:


Looks like it's about a month old, but I haven't seen it yet, posting in case anyone else is interested. I doubt the detail is enough for parts purposes, but as a concept it looks really neat.

Such tool is what it is - a tool. I could imagine a couple of scenarios
where this could be used.

Think about architecture, you could easily integrate a model with your
new proposal etc.

While a 3D scanner might be more accurate, it usually works on a
different scale, then a photo could be.

However, have not seen such tool yet beside this video.
