Forgive me if I have the terminology wrong, I'm not really sure what it is I need here.

I have a 5/16 screw rods with medium threads. I need the bushings, lead nut, screw in thingy that goes inside the X-ends and that the screw rod screws into.

I need the brass looking part that is the bottom of the X-End in this picture

What is that called? Where do I get it?

I am not opposed to buying a new lead screw rod thing of a different size if it will make things easier. (Not a fan of using an SAE part in Metric build anyway)

Thanks.

Those are actually :

Leadscrew nuts: Misumi part number MTSKR8.
Leadscrews: Misumi part number MTSR8-[length in millimeters]

In order to direct you to an appropriate leadscrew nut for your leadscrew, we would need to know *exactly* what you have...

I have this rod from McMaster
98847A030 18-8 Stainless Steel threaded Rod 5/16"-18 Thread 3' length

and I have these X-ends

Unfortunately I am showing that Misumi part number MTSKR8 as discontinued. Am I looking in the right place?

I need the brass looking part (or something similar) that is at the bottom of the X-End in this picture

I have no problem getting a new threaded rod.

Yeahhh...
If those are exactly the X-ends you have, then you've got the wrong combination.  You'll either need new x-ends (Pointedstick has the hex-nut version on that same Thingiverse page : http://www.thingiverse.com/image:107361), or new leadscrews to match the ends.
Personally, I'd recommend moving away from standard threaded rod (which you currently have) and going with a true leadscrew / ACME rod.

McMaster :
1/4-16 ACME rod:
93410A606

Nuts:
94815A007

Again, though, that combination would require you to replace your x-ends to accommodate the hex nuts.

I see the Misumi MTSKR8 nuts as still available but being discontinued April/13: http://us.misumi-ec.com/us/ItemDetail/10302300140.html. So you could still get those nuts and the MTSR8- acme rods Larry first suggested, and keep the x-ends you currently have.
