Its the sum of the weight of the spool and the weight of the filament required for the print. This means that if you keep a kitchen scale handy, you can weigh your spool before a print and compare the reading with the "including spool" value in the slicer. If the spool weighs more than that number, you have enough filament to print the object. If not, you'll have to perform a filament change at some point during the print.

Of course, for this feature to work, you must have the proper weight specified in Filament Settings > Filament > Spool Weight for each filament you're using. What should be put there is the weight of an empty spool, NOT the weight of the full spool (which would make the "including spool" value meaningless).

Prusament profiles already have a weight specified because Prusa knows the weight of the spools they use. For filament I buy, I create one profile per filament type/brand and either transcribe the official weight value from the spool or weigh an empty one when possible.

Hi all!

I ordered some 2kg spools from pursa (recycled PETG and PLA). They are too large to fit in the enclosure on the provided spool holder.

Is there a way to install them directly in the enclosure? I haven't found anything on printables...

All, my /opt/splunk/var/spool/splunk directory has 83,000 plus "*.stash_new" files in it and I would like to clear them out. I have seen references to this issue but no real solutions. If anyone has figured out how to accomplish this, can you please pass along the procedure?

UPDATE: I was troubleshooting another issue on this splunk instance that required a splunk restart. After the restart I noticed in the splunkd.log file that splunk was going through all 83,000 files trying to reread them, and failing. I understand that rereading the stash_new files in the spool directory at start up is normal splunk processing. Now I understand why I did not notice any current missing data.

Yannj,

Thanks for the update. We just ran an upgrade to 5.0.5 on Saturday, 5 days ago. And the last file was from 02/15, when we updated. I just wanted to make sure that if I delete the old files something else won't blow up.

A spool pool allows homeowners to enjoy the benefits of a private aquatic oasis even when space and budget are limited. These compact spool pools are often equipped with powerful jets for hydrotherapy and are the ideal solution for those who want to enhance their outdoor living experience or create an all-season indoor pool room.

It takes less water to fill a small pool, which translates to reduced maintenance requirements and lower chemical usage, saving you time and money. And with fewer chemicals to balance and a more manageable size to clean, owning a spool means fewer chores and more fun!

Because of their small size, spool pools can be installed both indoors and outdoors. Modular pools are delivered in pieces that easily fit through doorways, alleys, and small spaces and assembled in-ground, above-ground or in-between. You can even use your own stone, tile, and decking material to complement your home and landscaping.

Spools require less water, making them easier and more cost effective to keep warm and comfortable. Whether your spool is inside or outdoors, you can extend your pool season and exercise, relax, and entertain all year round, so you get the most value possible out of your aquatic retreat.

Many Endless Pools models are, essentially, spools that launched 30 years before the trend! Endless Pools offers compact pools that combine the features of both a spa and a pool, and boast easy maintenance and low-chlorine water purification.

Whether you're inspired by the Tiny House movement, your concern for the environment, a need to save space, or a desire for a simpler, low-maintenance pool, a spool from Endless Pools may be exactly what you're looking for.

To transform a postage-stamp backyard, you need a little creativity and, ideally, a spool from Endless Pools! The homeowners enjoy a lawn, a mulched garden, a container garden, as well as seating and dining areas. With the Endless Pools current, they can also simulate an uninterrupted, open-water swim with warm water and no flip turns.

Everybody in the spool! This Endless Pools installation clearly isn't too compact to host a daytime kids' party. After dark, adults can enjoy a warm-water, moonlight swim with the Endless Pools swim current. Or just turn the current on for a zen-like, babbling-brook backdrop as you enjoy the peaceful sound of sleeping children!

A modern log cabin demands a modern spool. On this deck, it's the Endless Pools Fitness System E2000 swim spa. Long before the spool, the Endless Pools line of swim spas combined the pool and spa, and they remain a stylish, easy choice for jetted hydromassage and aquatic fitness.

Stately and classical, a stone mantel and vine-covered wall bring an air of timeless grandeur to this on-trend spool. The self-contained Endless Pools design only requires one-side access for maintenance, which permits space-saving corner installations. A model of versatility, this spool can serve for anything from triathlon training to a formal wedding-photo location.

Spools, plunge pools, and cocktail pools are all terms that describe scaled-down pools, and are sometimes used synonymously. While all three options share the benefits of size, affordability, and practicality, they each have their own unique attributes.

Spools combine the function of a spa and a pool, while plunge pools are small, relatively shallow, and ideal for cooling off, lounging, family fun, and low-impact aquatic exercise. The Fathom Spool is a rugged and easy to use spool that simplifies tether storage and management for your BlueROV2! Full IP67 water resistance, 8-wire slip-ring, and integrated quick connectors make it tough enough to use at almost any dive site while remaining easy to transport.

The spool also includes an adjustable drag brake to provide fine control over the resistance while spooling and unspooling. A locking feature in the spool side panels allows the tether to be secured for transport.

The Fathom Spool comes as a partially-assembled kit with some simple assembly required. It has a Binder 770 connector on both the inside and outside of the spool so that to install the tether, you just plug it into the inner Binder 770 connector, attach a few restraints, and start spooling! An included 8 meter (26 ft) extension cable provides a connection from the outer connector on the spool to your FXTI and computer.

does anyone else practice this technique with success? what is your experience? i noticed cura estimates the material usage (give both a length and weight). how accurate is that? is it good enough to approximate and run a print with this info? thanks.

Several months ago there was a survey on which materials people used most. If I remember well, empty spool weight was one of the many items in the list? Other items were spool dimensions, etc. Maybe you could find additional info there, if you can find it back?

Concerning estimations of remaning material: I use the Cura-estimation as guide, and then just add some spare. Usually I manually unwind and straighten a bit of filament (the UM2 is sensitive to too much friction in the feeder traject), and since my prints rarely use more than 3 meters per print, this gives a good idea if I have enough.

I'm mainly using S3D and I weighed an print today that S3D estimated to 227.49 grams, it actually weighed 224.x grams. And of course you need to fill in the correct data in your program. I use the data provided by filament manufacturer and it usually works very good.

I always love when Sedef Imer shares a guest post with us - they're always so beautiful and creative - and this handmade spool-inspired key fob is no exception! Wouldn't these make a fun gift for sewing friends?

1. Find the PDF template to print from here and print to A4. Make sure you save it to your computer and open in Adobe Acrobat to print - if you print it straight from your browser this can cause size problems. Cut out the two spool parts in the template along their outlines.
