Centre LSD Convenes Research Methodology Meeting on West Africa Natural Resource Governance Policies/Laws
The African Centre for Leadership, Strategy & Development (Centre LSD) is convening a research methodology
meeting to review natural resource governance policies in West Africa.
The research, to be led by Prof. Peter Akper, SAN, OFR, involves conducting a thorough review of West African
regional policies/laws related to natural resource governance, identifying potential lessons and best practices for Nigeria, will culminate in a policy brief with recommendations for strengthening an intersectional approach to natural resource governance in
Nigeria.
This research product and the dialogues that will be generated from it are part of the plans to achieve one
of Centre LSD’s strategic focus for 2024 – 2028, which is to become a prime mover for regional policy campaigns and national organizing for improved natural resource governance and reduction of gender-based violence in the extractive sector.
A press statement by Mr. Vincent Dania, Program Coordinator at the Centre, states that the methodology meeting
which heralds the research commencement is scheduled to hold in Abuja on Friday, March 8, 2024.
He enjoined allies working in the sector across Africa to connect to the event via the Centre’s social media
handles.
