Urgent Press Release,

Taraba State

February 19th, 2024.

Centre LSD Support OGP Stakeholders in Taraba State to Review and Update the State OGP State Action Plan (SAP) in Jalingo.

The African Centre for Leadership, Strategy and Development (Centre LSD) under its project “Deepening Transparency and Accountability in the governance process through the implementation of Open Government Partnership in Nigeria” on Monday 19th February 2024, commence the process of reviewing and updating Taraba State Open Government Partnership (OGP) State Action Plan (SAP) in Jalingo, the State Capital.

A press statement released by the Programme Coordinator of Centre LSD, Mr. Lawal Amodu, stated that the stakeholders have determined to re-enliven the OGP discourse in Taraba state and therefore resolved to review and update the SAP in line with the current government’s five finger development agenda. He noted that despite efforts made to develop a SAP for the State, the immediate past government could not finalize and bring it into force before the expiration of its tenure.

The event will equip the stakeholders particularly the government actors with the knowledge and capacity to implement the action plan when it is finalized and endorsed by the government of Taraba State. The State is one of the 26 States and 3 FCT Area Councils in Nigeria that have signed up to the OGP to leverage on its Co-creation and citizen participation principles to enthrone transparency and accountability in their governance processes.

The statement enjoined well-meaning citizens to engage the Centre LSD OGP Project through the various social media channels:
