Centre LSD Builds the Capacity of State and Non-State Actors on the OGP in Osun State.
The African Centre for Leadership, Strategy and Development (Centre LSD) under its project “Promoting Transparency and Accountability in the governance process through the implementation of Open Government Partnership in Nigeria” on 8th May 2024, commences
a three-day capacity building for state and non-state actors on the Open Government Partnership (OGP) in Osogbo, the Osun state capital.
A press statement released by the Programme Coordinator of Centre LSD, Mr. Lawal Amodu, stated that the three days capacity building is expected to deepen the knowledge of 80 participants on the OGP, develop Osun State OGP State Action Plan (SAP) and constitute
the OGP administrative structures for the state. He recalled that the actors in Osun state were sensitized on the OGP through advocacy that saw the state signing up to principles. The open government partnership according to him, is hinged on the principles
of Co-creation where both government actors and the civil society engage the development process with the government at the driving seat of governance.
Osun state signed onto the global partnership in 2024 to make governance process in the state open, transparent, accountable and citizens driven. The Centre wish to congratulate the government and people of Osun State for the giant stride taken to join the
comity of states that have signed up to the Open Government Partnership (OGP) as the 26th in Nigeria. The partnership is governed by four key principles: Transparency, Accountability, Citizens Participation and Technology and Innovation.
The statement enjoined well-meaning citizens to engage the Centre LSD OGP Project through the various social media channels:
