Centre LSD Hosts Conference for Civil Society Leaders in Government.
The African Centre for Leadership, Strategy & Development (Centre LSD) will host a conference for civil society leaders in government on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, in Abuja, the federal capital territory of Nigeria.
The forum will bring together current and former civil society leaders who have transitioned into government roles. The theme of the forum is “Forging a Common Front for Sustainable Development as Civil Society Leaders in Government."
Among other objectives, the forum aims to:
• Gain an understanding of the experiences and challenges faced by CSO members transitioning into government roles in Nigeria.
• Identify the support mechanisms required for CSO members to maintain their commitment to CSO values and missions while serving in government.
• Explore strategies for enhancing collaboration between CSOs and individuals in government roles.
A statement by the programme coordinator of Centre LSD, Mr. Vincent Dania, notes that the president of Ford Foundation, Darren Walker, will be gracing the occasion as a special guest of honour. The keynote address will be delivered by Dr. J. 'Kayode Fayemi,
former Governor of Ekiti State and presently Visiting Professor at the African Leadership Centre, King's College London.
The forum will also feature a panel discussion with distinguished CSO members who have transitioned into government roles. This interactive session will provide a platform for them to share their experiences, challenges, and recommendations for forging stronger
collaboration between CSOs and the government.
Members of the public can contribute to conversations at the conference on X (Twitter) with the hashtag #CSOLeadersInGovt.
