Request for expressions of interest for the role of External Auditor at the African Centre for Leadership, Strategy and Development (Centre LSD)

The African Centre for Leadership, Strategy & Development (Centre LSD) is a leading national NGO and think tank in Nigeria, registered to build strategic leadership for sustainable development in Africa. The Centre’s mission is to work with forces of positive change to empower citizens to transform society. The Centre carries out its programmes through research, capacity building, advocacy and campaigns built on the principles of catalytic partnership and rights-based approach. Youth, Women’s rights and disability issues are mainstreamed in our programming.

In furtherance of its commitment to transparency and accountability, Centre LSD invites suitably qualified external auditors to submit expressions of interest for providing independent audit services and objective evaluation of its financial statements and internal controls.

i. Responsibilities:

a)    The auditor is expected to conduct the audit of the Centre’s financial statements in accordance with the International Standards on Auditing (ISA).

b)    The auditor shall present the audit report to the board of trustees and issue a management letter highlighting any issues that need to be addressed or require the board's attention.

c)    The Auditor is expected to express a professional opinion on the financial position of Centre LSD as it relates to various projects and expenditures incurred.

d)    The Auditor shall evaluate compliance with all applicable government registration requirements and other relevant statutory obligations and provide advice to management.

e)    Assess the level of application and compliance with donor agency guidelines as outlined in the grant agreement.

f)    •Assess whether the appropriate supporting documents, records, and accounting books have been maintained.

g)    Assess the adequacy and effectiveness of the accounting and overall internal control system for monitoring expenditure and other financial transactions, ensuring the safe custody of project-financed assets and their use for the intended purpose.

h)    Assess if the project assets are genuine, used for their intended purpose, and managed and recorded properly in the fixed assets register according to Centre LSD policies.

ii. Eligibility criteria for External Auditors

a)    Applicants must possess the following:

b)    Current practising license with ICAN

c)    The firm must be registered with the office of the Auditor General of the Federation

d)    At least five years’ experience performing similar or related roles in the development sector.

e)    Possess qualified and competent staff for the Assignment

 

iii. Deadline for Submission

All interested applicants are expected to submit Expressions of Interest on or before Friday, 30th May 2025. Only e-applications will be accepted.

c)    Confidentiality and

d)    Transparency

Applicants must prepare and submit their applications following the guidelines stated. Applicants are responsible for their expenses related to preparing and submitting a proposal for this solicitation. This includes any costs incurred during subsequent meetings and negotiations. This invitation shall not be construed as a contract or a commitment of any kind, nor does it obligate Centre LSD to award a contract, or commit Centre LSD to pay any costs incurred in preparing and submitting the proposal.
