It's been dead. Have not heard of any group activities, group promo
things nor the allotment of "jobs" for memebers.

I tried to start a couple of things but no go.

I am honestly curious... is this group, this STREET TEM kind of dead?
Does anyone want to DO anything?

Seriously. If so great! If not, then I guess I spent a lot of time
"setting up" for MOE for -- I don't know ... I really LOVE the idea,
so it's a shame. Still think it's a great idea.

I hope everyone is at least reasonable well...

Pete I am there with you. I joined a couple of months ago, but there
wasn't anything going on. I am in another street team that keeps me
going ALL the time. But it is a lot of every motivated artists that
make their living selling. Maybe that isn't the case here for MOE.
But yes, I agree MOE is a great idea. Our originators did a great job
creating the group, now we need to take ownership of it and do
something with it. I am great at supporting other people, but not so
great at coming up with the ideas..... So someone tell me what to do,
I am ready and willing.

I was thinking, maybe we need a roll call. Find out who is interested
in continuing the group and supporting it. I know the last time I
went through the links on the blog, a few of them (if I remember
right) were closed shops. Maybe if people start to see activity they
will be more prone to participate.
this is a free group. The other one I belong to has dues, its own web
site and national advertising. I don't know that we need to go to
that extreme but we could make a show of it on etsy and it only take
some time.

Oh my god you mentioned dues .. duck and cover!

I mentioned how I did NOT want dues but SOME minor money or way of
raising money MIGHT be needed to DO something a while back and got
LAMBASTED (sp?).

Thanks. I hear you on what you said. It's a pretty big group to be
DOING NOTHING.

What happened to the "jobs" thing?

I asked about being able to email the group even as a temp leader or
leader for an activity and was told that would be spam... no way!
It's needed communication, minimal and reasonable.

Come on guys and gal let's DO something!

I think if we just start doing something others will follow. "If you
build it they will come"

So lets think up something and just do it!

We are men! Hear us Roar!

Oh yes ..... it most certainly would. I can see the newscast now :

"A group of aspiring artists known as the  Men of Etsy are being contained by law enforcement based on suspicions of opium sales on the widely popular website, etsy dot com. The supposed ring leader of the opium sales, Bobby Wiggins, vehemently denies any association with online drug sales and stands firm in his ethical online business practices with his business, Moral Fabric. We will keep you updated on this story. Join us for amazing pet stories after our short commercial break...."

Ok, illegal substances may not be the way we want to go, but at least
we are thinking! LOL
I think as men we tend to look at so many of the things that the
primarily womens groups do as cheesy. But they work. Because women
like those sorts of things. Right now my other team, EGA is having a
contest. We all made hearts, and we are encouraging people to go vote
for their favorites. By voting they are entered into a drawing, the
three winners will win the hear of their choice.
Here is the details: http://etsyglass.com/blog/index.php/2008/02/01/i-have-a-heart-on-for-handmade/
(Vote for me while you are at it! I am number 14) I am currently in
4th place
But it gets people to the EGA Website (We pay dues, so we have a full
website) and gets all of us more promotion. Since joining EGA my
sales went from on two two sells a week to 1 to 2 sales a day. I
think EGA has a lot to do with it. I think MOE can have the same
impact.
But what if we did something like this for Fathers day? Or Mothers
day?
How many people would be interested?

Well I'm so new I can't roar yet, just squeek, so hear me
squeek.........

Let's do something a little different, maybe a BEWARE THE IDES of
MARCH CONTEST. I'll donate a prize, right now I'm thinking a Romanish
looking pendant with dichro glass. If someone can come up with a
Roman Eagle or portrait of Caesar on a coin we can do like the hidden
cupid in Etsy Texas Crafters, see the thead here: http://www.etsytx.org/wordpress/
Nobody has to give anything away, discount any prices or otherwise be
out any money. Just post the picture in an item (they use an 8 to 16
dollar price range). They also give the contest winner a chance at
whatever item is on their list free - we would substitute our
predetermined prize.

I'll volunteer to do the coordinating, I suggest we do it for the
Saturday March 8th, that gives the winner a chance to recceive their
winnings by the IDES of March.

Alternatetively (or additionally) we can have a Men's Day Out where
the MoE shops offer a one day a month discount or BOGO or something.
We make a HEAR US ROAR thread and off we go. I'd coordinate that too
if you are interested.

I hope someone comes up with some more ideas too - we should
definitely do something special for Father's Day I would think.....

Let me know what you think.......

Squeek is good! I like a good squeek! LOL!

I am pretty new as well. I think this sounds like a wonderful Idea,
Gecko.
How about if you start a new thread and we can try and get some
feedback on who would like to participate. Also if we can get an
announcement on the blog and myspace to all members that a new
promotion is being devised and we need participants, to sign up in
thread "whatever you call it." this thread forum is so quiet that I
think most members never check it anymore.

that is so Awesome! I am excited!

But how do we contact the membership?

And what ever happened to the list of jobs so things get done?
