Blog/Web Site Directory

[Burning Scentsations]

Hi All,

I was wondering if you thought it would be a good idea to start a blog/
web site directory page in our group of all of our members.

I might enable us to view each other's work and help promote all of
our stuff. I belong to other street teams that do have directories
like this and have used them in the past.

Perhaps we should come up with some general categories like Painting,
Wood, Glass, Supplies, etc. If it could be public to the internet,
that would be an even better way to promote our work.

What do you all think?

Down the left side of the page is the list of members with most of
them linked to there Etsy sites.

I do like your idea of having them in categories. I would add Photos,
Jewelry and Clothes to the ones you listed, if not more.

I've already added the new page for the blogs and sent out the

Hi Pete,

 

Right now I'm just focused on getting the blogs entered into the new page and into their appropriate categories.

 

We can reorganize the shop listings in a separate task, but since they're already on the MOE blog page, it's not as high a priority at this time.

 

If we need to start a new shop category page, we certainly can though.

 

What does everyone else think?

Well, this sounds like a great idea.  Why don't you get a new page started for the shops by categories, and then we'll be able to update both and get them out onto the blog when they're ready.

Just send out a post when you're ready to have us all start adding our shops to that listing as well.

Yes, a notice was sent out about adding everyone's blog to the listing a
couple of weeks ago on Dec. 5th to all members.

If you log into your Google Groups and go to Men Of Etsy, it's in the Pages
section on the right.

All members will not be auto-added since we do not know where everyone's
blogs are located. This is why we need each member to add their own blog
address to the list as Wood Mosaics has done.

If you do not see a section that matches your art, please feel free to add
one. There are more instructions on the actual page once your pull it up.

If you are referring to the page for categorizing our shops, I have not seen
anyone create that list yet.

Yes, I meant the store directly that everyone has. Is someone still
working on it? My blog is not active with entries so I was not going

The whole point of setting up a page in our google group is so that WE can do it for ourselves, not sit around waiting for someone to do it for us.

If a store directory by category is so important, then add the page and let us know it's available for update just as I have for the blog directory.  It would take less time to do it yourself than it would to keep sending out e-mails waiting for a sign that it's being done for you.

If this is the Men Of Etsy group, then WE need to take some responsibility and not just wait for Debra or someone else to do it all for us.

I don't know how ggogle groups works... never used them before now.

ANd as far as do it yourself? I volunteered PLENTY of times for
montsh and Debra didn't want my help. I am not going to argue about
this. THese are facts.

I'm sorry, I'm not trying to argue or be difficult.  It's just that since I started organizing the blog directory, the only inquiries that have been received have to do with re-organizing the store directory, which while a good idea, is not my focus at the moment.  

It appears that everyone has suggestions on what should be done, but when someone tries to do something, folks want something else done instead.  While critiques are welcome when they pertain to the project at hand, don't de-rail one project with critiques about how something else isn't being done.  

I didn't mean to be negative or snippy, but it is a little frustrating that the list has only had one additional blog entered since I started it at Debra's request (as it was my suggestion, I was happy to help her out).   

This is not directed at anyone in particular, so please don't take it personally.  Imagine what we could accomplish if everyone took a small project and ran with it.  We'd be a force to be reckoned with on Etsy!
