I have a thread on the promo boards on etsy just for MOE members...
let's try to keep it alive!

How can we, RIGHT NOW! promote out work and make sales. Down and
dirty. Something(s) now, that are fairly easy and/or quick and/or
cheap. As a group.

Individually... what has worked or IS working for you now? I need to
make etsy a paying concern as supplies are running low!

Finally... is there any way to tell how many MOE members are in this
google group? I mean, all MOE members or no? It's fairly dead here
and if we need a better forum we should do it because otherwise
nothing else will happen.

So we start small... but let's actually DO something now! I'm in the
mood. I love etsy but it's DEAD!

Would post.. but it would help if you could post a direct link to the Thread.. that way I don't have to search for it if I'm a few emails behind and don't see this in time..... still searching the forums for your post...

I'll try to get MOE a Treasury going if I get one next. Maybe if someone beats me to it, they could go off the list and try to list one thing from everyone's shop.

I never did get why it's such a "GAME" to get a treasury... they make
it too difficult.

58 members HERE... out of how many MOE total?

The Treasury isn't that bad.. you just have to be around at the right time. I've only been at Etsy since min-Aug. and setup 3 Treasuries now.

I'll make a MoE treasury if I get lucky enough to be there at the
right time. Today I was in the treasury when list #222 expired but
didn't see any "Create Treasury" button pop up. Anyone know how this
works? In the meantime I'll check out the thread.

To get a Treasury, you have to be on the main Treasury Listing page. If you click on anything else, it will void you getting one. This includes going into a Treasury to look at one (this happened to me once). If you scroll to the bottom, eventually it will pop-up with an input box to enter the name of your new Treasury. Once you select this, it can not be changed. For this group you might want to call it MOE or Men of Etsy or something like that. Then you will about 12 item numbers to place in the blank boxes on the next page. The greyed out boxes on the far right, are hidden and will not show up, but are there so you can quickly swap out an item if something else gets sold. Hope this helps.

Ok.. Just wanted to let everyone of MOE know that we finally have a Treasury!!!

I picked most of you from forum thread previously posted. I also have more to swap out if something gets sold. Good Luck and promote the MOE Treasury.

Well, that's just it... all time oriented for treasuries too, and so
few!

Thanks! Looks great , am still reviewing, thanks for the inclusion.

155 members? That over twice what I thought it would be. And it's a
shame no one responds, BUT that is easily fixed...

While being very reasonable, giving plenty of time etc etc etc... we
should REQUIRE (like some other teams and groups anywhere) activity
and responses to official emails (some I mean, like a role call with
business).

I vote for that now.

"we should REQUIRE"?????-----I suppose WE could.------

BUT then I suppose WE could leave it as a strictly voluntary

on the level they feel comfortable with.-----

Myself?----I vote for the Latter.

But then who is going to count the votes.

Voluntary... but with some small responsibilties. I thought I made
that clear.

Our fearless leader is telling me how she gets so few responses when
she does mailing... makes it impossible for her to do a lot or certain
things.

What's the point of being in a group that is only a group in name?

ONE EXAMPLE... if we have a decision to make or a few about something
to do with the group, a vote, a set of promotions, maybe every person
should be required to email with in a week or so... and maybe even
after a couple of emails (in case the first one is lost) and maybe you
need to respon dto only 2 out of 3 of these sorts of things... I think
something like that is very reasonable.

Other groups require donations of goods and dues and more... I'm not
for ALL that but let's have something. I would like to see MOE do
soemthing for it's members in promoting our goods... something I was
told this is all about aside from support.

We have to start somewhere. I think anyone reading my posts AGAIN
will realize it's pretty laid back... not asleep though...

Yep.. I don't think donations or dues should be required. I'd like to join other Street Teams on Etsy, but those requirements are why I've not yet joined. In regards to doing things to promote MOE, I post a Treasury for everyone.. I would suggest  someone else try to get the next one. We might also want to have a list of actual MOE members listed somewhere and have a sort of queue system, where your shop will be in the next Treasury. Pick from the top of the list and then place those shops at the bottom and rotate out, that way everyone in MOE will eventually shop up in a Treasury. We could also make a rule that the person who last posted the Treasury would be rewarded by have their shop placed in the next Treasury as a thank you. Each Treasury allows for 12 items to be listed and then you get 4 more reserved slots that are hidden.

Builder - I think you mentioned something about there being too few items in the Treasury, if that was so, it only allows 12 items to be shown at a time. Otherwise, I would have shown more people. Also, at least once a day as the Treasury caretaker, I click through all the items to see if anything has been sold out, We actually had one of the items I listed sell out the first day. I then remove those items and replace it with one of the reserved hidden items.

Cheers!
Jon

I would agree that we should be a bit more active, not crazy about the ideas of dues.
Not sure what the answer would be, I know for my part during the holiday season my day gig keeps
me busy from morning to late in the evening. (And too tired after that to deal with anything else) I do feel a bit guilty in not responding nor checking my email that much  lately....
Not much constructive solution on my part right now, but just wanted you to know I read your post and will do what I can in response. I like Jon Ray's suggestion though.

i think your treasury idea is a solid one! we should have a list of all
members with their etsy sites and send out a databse to everyone. the tough
thing is that i think a lot of people are newish to etsy and are intimidated
by making a treasury, I know I haven't figured it out yet! but if we all
had a database and a bit of treasury knowledge then all the info is in front
of us and there aren't any more excuses not to be active...at least

There is a list of all MoE on the MoE Blog, down the left side of the

This is what I've used for Treasuries for the last couple of months

I never wanted dues only brought up what other ones do! We might have
to consider SOME input of money IF we ever want to do anything that
requires it.

BY so few treasuries I guess I should have specified treasury
avaiabilty... and it is a little confusing, and I gave up on them
because I'm not around ever when one becomes available!

There my be that list of member, but no way unless I missed somehting
o contact all.

I think I finally have to bring this up.

I have been trying to help MOE, and Debra, but am not sure what she
needs or wants. My time is somewhat limited but one big snag (Debra,
NOT the only one or main one except NOW I think it might be but I did
not think so previously) is CONTACTING members. Debra seems to thinl
that no one else can have the list. But think about it... if she
can't do the head honcho thing or moves on and passes it along it MUST
go to another! I have offered help but how if I can't ever contact
MOE members! I mean respectfully and carefull, but contact them
nonetheless! I never gave Debra my permission to her personally one
way or the other and I am sure no one did... the JOINED MOE, as group,
no matter what it is called.

Makes sense, huh?

I'm getting really tired of these postings. They seem to be everywhere
over the last week. I'm not really sure why a few people have their
underwear in such a bunch. MoE was formed as a place for guys on Etsy
to bounce ideas off one another, help promote each other and basically
just show the ladies on Etsy that there is a male crafter and art
presence online. Debra has done a fantastic job of setting up a google
group, blog, MySpace page, Indiepublic page, and countless treasuries
to help make MoE more visible.
If people aren't happy with the way MoE is being run or promoted then
go start your own group or just worry about promoting your damn self.
I have a busy schedule and what I like about MoE is members are free
to come and go as they please. Pop in whenever they have some free
time, not feel obligated to be doing more tasks on a weekly basis.
Most everybody helps on a level they feel comfortable with, weather
it's starting a promo thread, snagging a treasury, designing a logo or
just keeping the MoE street team thread active. Another great thing is
the fact that there are no dues. I will not pay dues to be in MoE as I
think that we are so spread out over the US that paying dues for
reasons of things like promoting or what not would be a waste.
Just keep MoE the laid back group that it's been so far.

I illustrated to a crazy degree what I meant. Laid back. But more
active. I know others feel the same way. NEver wanted dues. What's
the big deal? I have talked to Debra often enough to know she even
feels as myself and others MOE is not really doing anything now... not
much at least. Kind of like a lump. So to a certain extent what's
the point? I thought this thread was going to get soem juices
flowing... the good kind, not bickering. Right now NOE isn't doing
much, and we're NOT promoting, and I was told like others that's a
main finction. I took a bunch of time to join all those sites and it
was a pain in ways I will not go into but that's limited .., forget
it.

You can talk about.. or you can do it :)

So.. what's next? Anyone else want to try and grab the next Treasury? Don't be scared of the process, it pretty darn easy after you look at everything. Just remember to get the Item # of the thing you want to list and place that under the empty white boxes. Also, remember the 4th grey boxes on the right are hidden. I'm here to help anyone if you get a Treasury and don't know what to do with it. A good way to know when the next Treasury will be open is to wait until it reaches below 222. Once it reaches 221, at the bottom of the listing of Treasuries, it will change to show an input box to name your Treasury. Once you enter something, you can't change it. What worked really well and made it to the top of the list last go, was to just call the list " M.O.E.". That made people think and wonder what it stood for, When someone clicks to check it out, that Treasury goes higher in the rankings. An easy way to know when the Treasury will reach below 222, is to sort the list at the top by Expiration. Then you get the number of Treasuries remaining in the list that are needed before it reaches 221. Go down the list that number of Treasuries and when the last one you get to falls off the list is done, that is when the new Treasuries will open. Just look at the Expiration and there will be a Day/Time period from when you are currently viewing the list. This might be a bit confusing for some of you, but you have it here to go over should you attempt to get a list. I think having the name "MOE" somewhere in the naming of the Treasury as a must. Other than that, its up to you.

Another suggestion would be to try and have a Weekly M.O.E. thread in the Promotions area of the forums. Everyone from MOE would stop by and post something to keep that week's post alive. You could start it this Sunday and put that Sunday's date in the subject line. Then before anyone post, you do a search in the forums for MOE and look to make sure someone else hasn't already posted. If they haven't you should do it first. Then others could find it and keep the thread alive. That would also involve weekly attention for those saying we should have more activity.

Cheers!
Jon

I'm sure if any of you will be online or awake, but I just checked the current Treasury and it will be going below 222 in about 6 hours from now. So if you check the timestamp of this email and check 6 hours later, the Treasuries should open up. Also, don't forget to be logged in. Otherwise it won't show up for you.

your support,it means the world to me!!
i am glad so many of you have stepped out to express your opinions on
this subject...it makes my job a lot easier! I,am only frustrated due
to the fact that I think I might have been failing as a leader...but,I
see many of you think that the way things have gone so far are alright
by you.
I want MoE to be anything and everything it can and needs to be,but I
will never take it to place or make it into anything the majority does
not want!!
As far as dues go..Never!! the only thing we have ever discussed is
MAYBE an Etsy shop to raise funds to do things like the calendar
project, but that is it.I will never impalement a due schedule!!

I do agree that many should be doing a little...everyone doing
something to help out is only good for us all.
The treasury idea is a solid one! Go for it!!

I haven't been too active on Etsy but I plan to ramp things up again
next month.

I noticed the blog is a broken link to my Etsy store:
AugerArtworkStudios. The reason it's not working is because it is
missing an "s" but if I decided to phase that name out anyway so if I
could get a new link, please make it to: OffbeatArtwork

Thanks!

I guess most misread my firs6t entry... read too much into it.

Anyone want to do soemthing else?

Reread my first entry... it still stands... I have talked to other
MOEers privately and read what some say publicly and we just wasnt a
little more group activity... that's not a bad thing.
