Hi y'all - they published a letter of mine in the CA today. Judging by
the emails no one agrees with me as usual - par for the course!

Until I have the freedom to bring my otherwise legally carried handgun on a commercial airliner, I prefer to fly with everyone screened so that no one carries any form of charged weapon.  Lets have either no security or maximum security.  It is when the policy is somewhere in between that we have a problem. The good guys follow the rules and the bad guys sneak powder or liquid charges aboard.
I find it interesting though that no one even blinks when I board a flight carrying a Buford Pusser stick.

Hi y'all - maximum security is 1984. Excuse me I'm just off for my 2
minute hate - it is young Muslim men today!
How do you feel about security on buses or trains? What about hotels?
Big Brother needs to watch us all the time - then we are safe. Thank
you Big Brother.
Just got a great deal online - half a ton of cotton wool for only $84
plus tax.

I carry a 9mm auto Kahr loaded with some wicked hollow point police ammo on busses and trains.  Same thing for Hotels.  It is illegal for me to carry on the Marta train but I have done it anyway. Sometimes on Marta I carry a big stick.  No one ever complains about that.  I also carry the Buford stick inside the federal court house.  They x-ray it and hand it back over.  An airline took my wife's nail file away from her but sent me right on thru with a solid oak police riot baton with a rubber cane tip on one end and a handle on the other.  Go figure.
My bic pen is a deadly weapon as is my pewter redneck belt buckle.  At the end of a leather belt it travels at a surprisingly high velocity.  The only problem is that my pants fall down.

What's a Buford Stick?  Buford Pusser was a local sheriff from a few miles south of here.  Before he became sheriff some guys cut him up real bad and left him for dead.  After he healed he got a big stick, went to the bar where they hung out and broke bones.  Soon after they  elected him sheriff and he and his stick ran organized crime out of the area.  They gunned down his wife with machine guns as they were driving down the road.  Part of his face was shot away in that incident.  Eventually he was killed.  There have been about 4 movies based on him.
Our high school class slogan was "walk softly and carry a big stick".

Hi y'all - I have no problem with you carrying your big stick - even
on an airplane. I admit my letter to the CA was controversial - that's
the way to get published and start people thinking. My real thoughts
on the topic are that there is a fine line between security and
freedom. I think that the TSA are now crossing that line. Once we
cross the line it is a downhill slope to 1984. It takes opposition to
stop this process and I hope my letter will at least make people think
and perhaps realize that not everyone is prepared to surrender civil
rights for the illusion (and it is) of safety.
Scenario: J. on a 747 drinks 16 vats of moonshine. He takes up his
stick and heads for the cockpit. 84 passengers wrassle him to the
floor and use his big stick to best effect.

On the topic of body scanners: Some people object to them as they
display the human form nude (they say the new one's don't but...) I
can understand this but I object to the invasion of my privacy being
an infringement of my civil rights as an innocent traveler. The
chemicals which could possibly be found by the scanner on the body,
could just as easily be hidden in a body cavity so what next? That's
the slippery slope!
I would rather rely on my fellow travelers to keep and eye open and
maintain my freedom.
I have no problem with some kind of profiling and intelligence
gathering particularly on International flights. I think that domestic
flights should be exactly the same as buses and trains after the
borders have been secured.
Go on hit me!
