Hi y'all - yes, that is very timely. This week Jason and I were in a
bar in UK where the continuing religious differences in Ireland were
brought home to us. We met a mother and daughter (no ulterior motive)
who were from Northern Ireland. The mother proudly showed me a tattoo
of the word "Ulster" on her shoulder. These two were fanatical
supporters of the UK (C of E) in Ulster. When they found out that I
had abandoned the UK, the daughter spat out the word "traitor" and
refused to speak to me any further. Without going into too much
detail, it was some time before I was able to whisper to her (and I do
mean whisper owing to no free speech over there)that I left the
country partly because of the influence of the Muslims. This mollified
her, and I was able to leave with a handshake, but that encounter has
reminded me that the religious feelings in that area are just as
strong as they have been for centuries.
