FYI:

In the recented "Jesus, The Perfect Man" article in the Commercial Appeal Newspaper on Christmas Day by CPJ Mooney (1912), the original article was edited out (white washed), including excluding the the following sentences.

"The teachings of Buddha resulted in mental and moral chaos that makes India derelict."

"Mohammed offered a system of ethics which was adopted by millions of people. Now their children live in deserts where once there were cities, along dry rivers where once there was moisture, and in the shadows of gray, barren hills where once there was greenness."

Jason,

I thought you might like that little tidbit of information about
Mr. C.P.J. Mooney. Here's another line that was omitted: "The doctrine
of Confucius gave a great nation moral and mental dry rot."

Now what is the definition of ethnocentric again?

I was waiting on someone else to post but its a slow weekend.
Everybody radiating the warm glow that the love of Christ at Christmas
time brings. Things like C.P.J. Mooney's characterizations of other
belief systems as moral decay... rot... derelict. Did I leave
something out about how he really feels? The Commercial Appeal has
edited out those sentiments since sometime in the 70's (I think it
was) but that doesn't change the fact that fundamentalist Christians
STILL think that way. Its just a little embarrassing to have it laid
out in public like that.

Yes, I have heard similar sentiments from some fundamentalist
Christians in contemporary times.
