Hi folks,

Been experiencing massive issues over the past week with Comcast HSI. They cant figure out how to correct the upstream line noise and signaling issue (dropping packets to first hop, having complete outages, or T3/T4 timeouts). Sometimes I'm fine but of course when the sun goes down and temps drop it gets worse, which makes sense with expanding/contracting of copper etc. When I experience trouble I always ask the support rep and it's always the same - 123 customers on your node affected, plant fault, etc etc. All since it started getting colder out.

After a week of escalations (and 3 promises that it's fixed) I'm about ready to move on. I work from home and I've been forced to tether to my phone this week on more than one occasion.

Anyway,

I have the comcast business class 16/2 with static IP (smc8014) at 84.95/mo total. U-verse service seems comparable in speed (24/3) and offers a /28 block of statics at 15 bucks a month for about what I'm paying now, but with no SLA.

I suppose before I pull the trigger I was curious if anyone else has had good results with Uverse in the local market, any issues with voip(non-AT&T), latency(important for me), etc. I live in an older subdivision not far from Whitten and Yale, with underground wiring, not sure it matters unless we have an expert here.

Any thoughts (on the uverse, or even my Comcast problem)?

Thanks,

Joe

Yeppers we had the same issue...turned out to be water in the line at
the connection box outside in the ground...
You might see issues with cable late at night or with ondemand when it
rains hard or gets cold...
Thank you for your time.
