I'm looking for a full time PHP/MySQL developer to work with me on two web-based research administration applications as well as 2-3 dynamic websites for the VUMC Office of Contracts Management and the new VU Grants Office (both formerly Grants & Contracts Management). Basic Requirements: 

Bachelor's degree and minimum 24 mos of related experience. 

Preferred skills: 
Strong background in PHP (knowledge of object-oriented programming, Zend Framework a plus). 
Solid expertise in database design (MySQL, Oracle, and/or SQL Server). 
Advanced understanding of JavaScript (experience in jQuery a plus). 
Full life-cycle web application development experience. 
Experience working with SVN, Mercurial or similar version control systems. 
Good verbal and written communication skills. 
Excellent interpersonal skills. 
Goal and quality driven. 
Ability to express technical issues clearly in layman's terms. 
Detail and process oriented. 
Key Functions and Expected Performances: 
Create functional modules to support new electronic processes in web applications. 
Develop automated tools to facilitate internal processes and electronic program management "dashboards" to track key functions. 
Designing, coding, benchmark testing, debugging and documentation development of programs. Also assist other programmers to effectively utilize developed software. 
Work with external groups to consume and provide data sharing and to streamline research administration data processes. 
Responsible for assisting non-technical staff with technical issues/problems. 
Create help menus and user documentation for training tools for programs as the development stage is completed. 
Work with team members to expedite resolution of difficult issues and provide timely reports as required or needed. 
Communicate effectively through oral and/or written communication with various groups including internal and external users. 
Effectively ensure the integrity and security of data by promoting confidentiality and security procedures. 
Analyze and define needs and requirements of clients by performing interviews with end users, vendors, etc. 
Prepare specifications with supporting documentation of any issues identified, associated risks, and possible resolutions. 

Additional Information: 

This is a full-time position. 

Salary ranges from $48,089(Minimum), $67,589(Midpoint), $87,089(Maximum). Salary is commensurate upon years of education and experience. 

Benefits/Perks: Health, Dental, Retirement 403(b), vacation/holidays/personal time, casual work environment (jeans as long as you don't have a meeting outside the office), flexible schedule after 6 mos.

Experience may be substituted for education : Basic qualification requirement on a 2:1 basis (2 years of experience for each year of education required, but not obtained)
