Open-Ended Contract as a PHP Developer
Up to 35/hr DOE
Front- and back-end Web Developer, using the following:
Back-end:
· PHP (versions 4 and 5, as the primary server-side language)
· MySQL databases (schema design, and some administration)
Front-end:
· HTML
· CSS (style and layout)
· Javascript (jQuery or Mootools framework experience a plus)
Required:
· Should be familiar with the "full lifecycle" of development:
Seeing a project through from conception and planning stages to
implementation on the chosen platform.
· Should be familiar with the "Model, View, Controller" design
pattern.
· Should be able to use a Linux command line to navigate a
file system, and be familiar with basic command line tools.
· Ability to write clean, self-documenting code where
possible, and well-documented code otherwise.
· Ability to design clean and consistent user interfaces,
using basic design principles and an awareness of the user experience.
· Non-Web related scripting, like parsing/converting data
formats (XML, JSON, and non-standard formats), and report generation.
Big "pluses" (more personality or familiarity than pure skill, but
should be required):
· Ability to gather requirements (internally, from department
leaders), and develop web/browser-based solutions to their problems,
with a focus on usability.
· Should have some experience working with an existing medium-
to-large code-base.
· CakePHP or Kohana web framework experience.
· Familiar with at least one source/version control system:
Mercurial, Git, Subversion, etc.
· Familiar with a CSS framework
