Just wondering where there are shia masjids in toronto/scarborough that iraqi's and other arabs go to. I know of al huda center where its mainly lebanese and Imam Ali center for iranians, both in scarborough. Any other arabic centers? I want to go for iftar & salat.

Imam Ali Center has an Arab section as well [mainly Iraqi cuz' that's where all my Iraqi friends go -_-]. It has like a Pakistani, Iraqi and Irani section; it's called Rasul Al A'atham Mosque. You have the two big ones mentioned in your post already [Al Huda and the Imam Ali building]. The other Arab-Iraqi mosque is called Al Hussain Foundation Centre at 10992 Kennedy Road, Markham [quite a distance away from Scarborough].

yesterday I went to Imam Ali center looking for the arab "section"...wasnt able to find anything and ended up in majlis irani. Went in there to find it filled with chairs and persian people :unsure: so i was thinking "where are we going to pray"...apparently in the same place, just moved the chairs back a bit. At athan, we broke our fast and to my surprise, we didnt pray maghrib till 10 to 9.

Today I went back in the hope to find this alleged arab section. Went to the front this time to Rasul Al A'atham as you mentioned earlier....was pure pakistani and you can count the number of people in attendance - like 13 or so. Right after athan, we prayed maghrib and then gathered to break our fast after 5-10 mins or so. All the other places at Imam Ali center were closed today.

Salam bro..did you go to the side door? cuz when you enter the parkinglot...all the way on the right side..they have a door one for men and one for women..its kinda hidden lolor if u see men handing out shorba ..they are usually the arab ones..they could be help

I live in Brantford, ontario. I have been going for the past few months to the Shia Hamilton Mosque. Only a few old people go there. The imam is great though, I love his sermons. I dont know any shia friends (only friend in Canada is my Cousin really). I'm looking for pious believers to be their brother! :P

Hahahaha. This might sound funny to you, but I really am looking for friends. Between work and family I dont get out much. Not much room to meet new people. I am Palestinian btw, 25 and married Thanks be to Allah.

I just re-read ur post and saw that u said only a few old ppl go there....that rules out the iraqi and lebanese centers that I know of (and MAYBE the pakistani one too - haven't been there in ages and I think they are planning on opening a new one soon)

side door....hmmm :dry: well...when i went there...parked the car near the front (at the gate) and there is a wall at the front that has in big writing "Madinat-ul-Ilm" and the right side is "Men" entrance and the left side is the "Women" entrance. This is where i went on sunday night and it appeared to be the pakistani center. Unless no arabs came out at all on sunday, which i would think so cuz the parking lost was pretty much empty compared to saturday.

Hahaha I didnt know there were different one's! I go to the one on Upper Gage (I think?) It is the exit off Linc after the Mall Exit. I cant think of the name of the centre. Where are the other ones? Where is the Lebanese? I know the guy who does the sermons at THIS place follows Sistani... this could be the Iraqi centre.

hi all, I'm Lebanese Christian and looking to pass some petitions around, including to mosques. I stumbled upon this and I'm wondering, is it awkward for an Arabic from outside of Lebanon to hang out in a Lebanese temple, of their religion? I think it would make for a nice mix, and some eye opening discussions if say Egyptian Christians stopped by our Lady of Lebanon on Queen st W, or if Arabic speaking temples from different religions organized an open house, so they can visit each other. I wonder if that would sound strange to everyone!
