Hi there,

I'm using MementoDB first on my Android Smartphone and later installed the desktop version on my PC at home. Now I'm mostly adding new entries using the desktop version of MementoDb. At the time I'm using Memnto Cloud to synchronize with my smartphone and this worls very well. But in the free version of mementodb the space in the memento cloud is limited to very small 50MB. So I decided to sync with Google drive. I'm able to do this using my smartphone version of memetodb. My one and only library is named Bücher (German for books); thus producing a google sheet called Bücher with proper content. There is automatically created a folder named Bücher.files; but this one remains unfortunately empty! On the smartphone I set the mark at 'copy to storage' under 'folder for files'. Can anyone tell me what's missing?

Second question: In my desktop version of mementodb I can't find any menu item 'Sync with Google drive' Of course, in the library window thre is a button called 'Sync' but this allows only synchronization with the mento cloud. How can I get rid of this kind of synchronization to the memento cloud?

Thank you very much for all useful hints and tipps.
Gerald

To remove a Library from the Memento Cloud, starting on your Android device with a list of your libraries, touch the icon for the library you want to remove, thus opening it. (Because it's in the cloud, it'll show that with a little cloud icon next to the 3-dot icon.) Once the library is open, touch the cloud icon in the right-side menu; this will open the cloud dialog. That dialog has a 3-dot menu icon in the upper-right corner; touching that will bring up the option to delete the boundary from the cloud, leaving you with your local copy.

As for the syncing of files, the free version allows 2 libraries to be synced. For a one-time cost of $10, that becomes an unlimited number. Other than that, I don't know why files would not appear.

Hi,

I'm going on experiencing memento db and got some answers to my questions I posted above by my own:
  • I added new entries in the library using the desktop version of memento db and provided the attached files using this way.
  • that I was synchronizing with memento cloud first resulted in storing the attached files only in the memento cloud; they were not downloaded to my android smartphone when synchronizing with it (but were nevertheless visible as part of the entries). So the storage of files in the android version was empty. So it is clear that no attached files could be synchronized (uploaded) from the android version to the Google drive.
  • I cancelled the setting that my library Bücher should be synchronized with the memento cloud. Doing this (on my android device) memento downloaded all my attached files from the memento cloud to my android device.
  • When clicking now 'synchronize with Google drive' not only the spreadsheet was uploaded but the attached files as well.
  • So far, all OK

The remaining question is how to synchronize libraries from the desktop version of mementodb with Google drive; I can't find any button or menu item to start this. I guess that it's not implemented yet? Can anyone of the developpers please confirm this guess os provide any useful information on this topic, e.g. when and how this sould be implemented.

Thank you.

Gerald

Sorry fo the fault: the price is 10$/month for 20GB not 2GB.
But this is still a lot of money for a private person 120$/year!

@Gerald, have you just compared a multi-national GOOGLE CORPORATION with an android database developer?

It takes three or four years to learn programming, at least half an hour just write a simple "Hello world" message in java, and it takes years of one's life for no money at all to write a program with memento functionality.

A good high-rated one-dollar app in Google play brings on average 150 dollars per year, on the condition you ķeep up developing it, have it always compliant with all new Android releases, advertise it, translate it into all possible languages of the world and continuously work on finding new users via networking etc. Doesn't sound like you can buy yourself a McDonald bun or a coke while you work for that money.

A couple of dollars for two Gigs sounds like very generous for all the functionality the database offers, especially given that the developer has to run an expensive cloud server, pay 25 dollars to Google only to be able to present an app in Google Play, pass all those tests and cerifications to prove his program is not harmful, and... besides -- a user will hardly even ever need that much memory for textual information kept in a private use.

In France, I was approached by a drunk beggar, he asked me for money. When I gave him a euro, he threw it back at me. He thought it was humiliating for him that he couldn't even buy a glass of wine for that money.

I just wonder why would the geniously gifted memento programmer do such astoundingly high-quality and difficult work, while he is likely to earn much more if he invests his life into begging on streets rather than programming / studying / running clouds / paying to Google etc.

You can get 2 gigs for three dollars a month and try it out.

A list of monthly for me or wife

Wife
$5 a day at starbucks
150$ a month for cigarettes (bad habit)
150$ a month for vodka and kahulua
200$ a month for cable tv and internet

Me
A few dollars a month for a cigar here or there
3$ a day for coffee starbucks or dunkin
$50 a month for Internet magic tricks (hobby)

3$ a month for Memento I use 10 times a day for my business and personal life.
Memento is my best deal by far!

10$ a month is nothing. Think of all the things you buy every month that total over 10$. Most people spend 400$ a month eating out, 100$ a month on coffee out, 30$ a month on music like mp3 files etc.

The list goes on.

I sell life insurance I get to see a lot of budgets. People waste so much money on frivolous stuff then when it comes time to protect their lives they bitch and moan.

So 3$ a month for my business is peanuts. And when the time comes needing more space 10$ a month is just better peanuts.

I've calculated... so, your mandatory subscription plan to keep your wife running costs you at least 6,060 USD per annum.
I'd rather uninstall her! 😁😁😁

Yes Eugene, very funny. (Now you owe me a few more programming solutions.)

1. I may tend to agree with you on the uninstall but she may hack my computer and see my answer
2. The upside is it only costs me $36 per annum for memento to work my business and keep her in her frivolities!!

I need to start drinking.
