Hello,

i have a new android phone and i am trying to import my memento db from google spreadsheets. (cannot use my old phone)
So i have downloaded on spreadheet as csv format and copied it to my android phone.
However, when trying to restore it i get the message "invalid template file format".

=> Can someone tell me how to import spredsheets as memento database ?

note : all my memento DB were stored in a folder named "memento DB" on google drive. There are 20 spreadheets in there that were sync with Memento on my old phone. I just wish to sync them on my now android phone !

If the libraries were previously synced with Google Drive, you can restore them one at a time by "add library" -> "Select from Google Drive".

Alternatively, if the libraries were not previously synced with Google, you will need to create the correctly structured libraries first, then import the each CSV file to the appropriate library.

However, I consider it better practice to do regular backups, and save the contents of your memento/backup directory to an external location.
Then if you need to re-install your libraries you can simply copy the latest backup from the external location to your current memento/backup directory and do "Settings" -> "Restore", choosing the most recent backup file.
This will restore all your libraries. It will also permanently delete any libraries that already exist on that device, so beware.

Thanks JohnO for your answer.

I tried the first option you mentionned but no previously synced librairy (database) showed avec i clicked "restore from Google".
I have a doubt: is this the correct option ?

Regarding importing csv file, can you confirm what is the exact format? I keep getting a format error when importing. I am using "import a template from". But again i have a doubt : is this the correct option ?

Sorry for these questions that may seem obvious but i am a newbie in memento...

It is better if you tell me the full sequence of steps you take, not just the one where the failure occurs.

This is what I do:
Open Memento, touch the three vertical dots at the top left, touch "add library", touch "Restore from Google Drive"
A list of libraries should then appear. If this does not happen, it would suggest that you have no synced libraries on that account.

All is not lost. You can recreate the library manually.
Look at your CSV file using a text editor.
The first line contains the names of the fields. You need to create a library with fields whose names exactly match the names in that first line.
Save the library.
Open the library and touch the three dot menu, -> "Import and export" -> "Import from CSV"

If you have done everything correctly Memento should import the data from the CSV into your library.

Repeat for each library in turn.

Could not sync the original librairies but manual recreation worked fine.

Thanks a lot for your help !
