How do I recover my license key.
I want to try some things out on my tablet. I can activate it with a code but I can't find it.
I have my original purchase email but it is not on there... also, can't seem to recover it from my current phone.
Do I need to email the developer?

I figured since I downloaded it in the Play store under the same account it would automatically register it but it didn't...

In regards to recovering license key from you current phone.

Your license key can be found in Google Play Store by tapping on your account icon in top right corner.  Tap on My Apps and Games, then tap on the Installed tab and scroll down.

It can also be found on your mobile device by choosing Settings/Apps.

Hey Beth,

I can find 'Memento Database Pro Key' but when I open it I just get a screen saying
"The PRO License key unlocks all of the Pro features of the Memento Database"
Under that is a button to open the Memento app.

You can manually input the activation code in Memento... I was trying to find that number.

Hi Andy, on your tablet you need to go to Google play store, your apps, and click on the Memento Database Pro Key and install it.

Ps...the purchase may only be allowed for one device,  your mobile phone.  You may need to make a separate purchase for your tablet?  I am not sure.

Hey Beth,

I misunderstood you at first. I thought you were trying to guide me to finding the activation code number.

That worked on the new device. It had all the apps listed that I've installed in the past.

Thank you much :-)

Hi everyone,
it seem to me that it has no more Memento Database Pro Key App in Google PlayStore. (Or do you have a link?)
I bought the pro license today via Android In-App-Purchase an this activated the pro features of the memento-App.
Now I'm wondering how I can rescue the license and transfer it if I buy a new phone.

Regards, Hans

Hello Hans, your license key is always in the Google Play store.  You simply tap on the license key in your Google play account and download.

See attached screenshot.

Actually, Beth, Hans appears to be right. It's no longer available for purchase in the Store.
You can see it because you've purchased it. I can't see it, because I don't have the Pro key - I get Pro access through having the monthly subscription

You see this a lot in the Play Store - a lot of devs refer to the method you've used, Beth, as "legacy". If you buy it as an 'app', it's subject to Google's Family sharing rules, which means that anyone you've defined as part of your family gets it for free.

The "newer" approach of In-App Purchases doesn't apply for other Family members - they'd have to buy it too. For that reason (at least, I'm pretty sure that's why), devs seem to prefer the In-App Purchase approach.

I assume in this case, the dev has removed the standalone  'unlocker' app for purchase in the store, meaning you have to use the IAP. It has to be visible for people like you who've purchased it already to allow you to carry on using it.

The other difference though is that standalone 'unlocker' apps have to be installed in addition to the app they unlock. That's not the case with IAPs. They just automatically apply. So, as long as you're installing the app from the Play Store on your new phone using the same Google account, you'll automatically get the IAP. (Of course, if you're not using the same Google account, you wouldn't have seen the unlocker either).

Unfortunately, Google don't make it easy to see your In-App purchases. You can see your Order History, which is similar.
I use an app called "Purchased Apps", which can be really helpful with this kind of thing:

Raise your hand if you miss the good old days when you could buy a piece of software and you got a serial number when you purchased and then you could install it where ever and and whenever you wanted... and not have to rely on things like a play store.

Are you sure?  I just had a family member, who doesn't have the Memento app installed, go to Google Play Store and it is available for her to download.

I don't believe I ever purchased the app through the store.  I downloaded the free version and then upgraded through the app to the pro version at which time I then got my Memento License key which is stored under Google play store.

I will reach out to the developer and respond back as soon as I can.

Ps...I can also go to my apps on my device and the key is downloaded there as well.

Have you checked your app folder?

It's possible for there to be other reasons why it's not visible - e.g. different country.

But in your case, your screenshot shows that you purchased the 'app' version of Pro. That doesn't mean you didn't initiate that process through Memento itself, but what you've got in your screenshot isn't an actual "In-App Purchase" (i.e. using that specific technical mechanism as opposed to something you initiated the process of purchasing from within the app).

The Memento app itself would be available for you family member - the presence of that doesn't appear to have changed.

For the "Pro Key" 'app', I'm not entirely sure how that would work for a 'Google' family member. As far I'm aware if they're part of your defined 'family' in Google Play they would be able to see it because they have effectively purchased it when you did. (though I suspect you just mean someone who's related to you in the real world rather than the Play Store).

If you use the "Share" option for the Pro Key in the Play Store on your device, you can share to something like a Gmail draft. That will give you the Play Store URL that you could copy/paste into a message on here, and my guess would be that anyone who hasn't already purchased it gets an error when they try to follow your link because it's unavailable to them.

It would be nice if apps that have been removed from the Play Store like this could still be seen but just labelled as "No longer available" or something, but that's not how Google have chosen to do it :-/

Here is the developers response:

There is no Pro license app anymore. It is possible to get a PRO license via in-app purchase only. The in-app purchase should recover after reinstalling the app. Those who bought a pro license in the past as an extra app can get an activation key as a text string,  they must write to sup...@mementodatabase.com

I have "Memento PRO License Key" installed. When I share from the Google play store it gives this:
It is a broken link when I open in a web browser.
Address given in the Google play store for the developer, LuckyDroid: Russia, Chelyabinsk, Br. Kashirinih str., 134a
Although I have it installed, it is not listed under the developer, LuckyDroid. No apps for LuckyDroid.

I also have "Memento Database" installed. When I share from the Google play store it gives this:
Address given in the Google play store for the developer, MementoDB Inc.: 145, 3553 31 Street NW, Calgary, Canada
This is the only app listed for developer, MementoDB Inc.

My guess is that when the app changed from having a key app to an in-app purchase, people with the key app were credited with the purchase.

Hope this helps,
Craig

Vasiliy (the developer) said the following:

Hello Bill,

Yes, there is no PRO License app anymore. It is possible to get a PRO license via in-app purchase only. Also, those who bought a PRO License in the past can get an activation key as a text string from me.

I think he means by direct email, but I'm not sure.
