Exporting to JSON

I'm confused. I know I've heard people talk about working with Memento and the JSON object data format, and I know there is some sort of way using a REST API to do something with Memento regarding JSON. But there is no way I know to export a library or even an entry to a .json file, which is what I'm wanting. 

So, can it be done on desktop Memento or iOS Memento? In Help, the only reference I see is to the REST API. In the Android user interface, I see no support for it.
