Single-choice list

Greetings!

I'd like to know if it's possible to trigger a change in single-choice list value as soon as I open the library

I tried to use the field() function, which would work if the trigger was used for 'creating an entry', for instance. However when I open the library, it says it cannot access the field function

My goal is to set an Expire date library. So as the days passes, the single-choice list values, change from "valid", to "soon to Expire", to "expired"
