Use Memento Database on PC

Hello!

You can run Memento Database on the Chrome Browser.

If you have Chrome OS device - you can install Memento Database from Chrome Web Store:

Instruction for Windows/Linux/Mac users: 

1. Install the chrome - extension Welder https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/arc-welder/emfinbmielocnlhgmfkkmkngdoccbadn

2. Download Memento Database extention: http://mementodatabase.com/chrome/memento_3.8.1_chrome.zip

3. Unpack the extension archive.

4. In Chrome, Open the extensions page (chrome://extensions/)

5. Click the “Developer mode” check-box

6. Click “Load unpacked extension”

7. Navigate to the extension’s folder and click OK

Known limitations:

• Does not work sync with Google Sheets, but you can sync data with your Android through Memento Cloud Server. You must have the Memento Database 3.5.0 or later.

I use a Chrome browser on Android & Windows all the time. I think there are versions for iOS & Mac, as well. You don't need ChromeOS. Nobody said you did.

Anyway. Back to constructive remarks. Using ARC the chrome app is just as amazing as the Android version. Please consider allowing Google Sheet Sync. Other than that I look forward to future Memento Database development.

ive been trying this out. i have it on pc and such but im having trouble syncing my phone to the pc. any list of steps i need to follow?

i did sign into my account but when i try to connect the google account, it only lets me choose one gmail, and its not the gmail i use for the pro version of the app. i have a gmail specially for android stuff but my own personal gmail email for email. its my personal email its letting me pick. is it showing me this bc i was logged into chrome on pc with that email when i downloaded?

or how can i sync to the cloud storage? thanks!

First, some actually do, and the first instructions were for them. Am I incorrect in my understanding that the second instructions make it work using a Chrome browser on a Windows PC?

Though I read thoroughly, I did not try it yet, so perhaps I'm missing something. The second instructions do not require ChromeOS (by definition, since it is Windows).

He is referring to the fact that the ChromeOS version can be installed as is while the Windows version needs an additional extension called ARC...

It is usually frowned upon when devs use additional dependencies because note you have to worry that one of them gets updated and breaks functionally and the you have to wait until it is fixed which you can't control.

Hi,

Can we use the barcode scanner app with Memento within Chrome. I have installed it as app using Arc Welder but hen I click to scan barcode , it asks me to install Barcode Reader (Zxing) despite I have also dne that. Then message appears 

THis application requires a barcode scanner, Do you want to install it? I click YES

It takes me to Google play where installation page for the app is.

But nothing happens.

As a short cut, I then try running the barcode scanner app, and the following message appears:

'Sorry, the Android camera encountered a problem You may need to restart device. '

I have tried to reboot laptop but there is no change.

I have tried to use my laoptop front camera to scan barcodes, and it works with LEADTOOLS barcode.

 

Is it a mater of the Barcode scanner not communicating with camera and app, or Am i doing something wrong?

Was working well which was fantastic. How now stopped. Keep getting the "He's Dead Jim" icon! Not sure what has changed. Tried reloading etc, but with no success.

This might sound totally weird but if you changed sound settings recently that might be the issue:

I opened the console and checked for errors and i got an issue that memento couldn't load a specific plug in... googling around i found that it was due to the main audio mixers preferences being at more than 16bit 44100 Hz... Attached is a screenshot of the properties that i was changing.

If that is set to anything above 16Bit 44100 Hz I get the "Is dead Jim" message.
As Soon as I put it on those settings then it continues working fine again.

If you havent done this yourself it might be that a program changed it, go ahead and take a look... if that's not the issue then I suggest you opening the console as seen in the second attachment... just click on "inspect view" and anything that looks red or seems like an error just go ahead and paste it on google and see if you are lucky... :)

I followed the directions but I keep getting:

"Failed to load extension from: C:\XTemp\memento_3.5.0_beta1_chrome

Manifest file is missing or unreadable.

There is a file, manifest.json, that is 2kb in size in the folder. Any help?

I went through the process and it seems to be working fine on my desktop and laptop as well as my android phone. I had alittle issue with the black screen but left it overnight after creating and seems to working well now :-). Does anyone know how to get more cloud storage? I keep seeing the page showing all the different plans but that's it, cant click on them.

Hi, yesterday (10/19/2015 06:00 PM), the ARC Welder app begin to not start apps.

For some reason, now, when I click "TEST", nothing happens on Windows, I tested on MAC also, and works fine.

Work around - android emulator:

- Make sure Virtualization Technology (VT) is activated in BIOS: http://amiduos.com/support/knowledge-base/article/enabling-virtualization-in-bios

(If VT isn't installed you get a message that make it look like VT is just a benefit - not necessary. But it is. Without VT it failes).

- Install AMDuOS: http://amiduos.com/

- Install Google apps: http://amiduos.com/nextsteps?status=installed

- Install memento as on normal android device - done

... but hoping that ARC Welder soon will work again: AMDuOS have 30 days of free trail... Just $10 to purchase, but I don't need it for anything else...

The Chrome app works pretty well for me. I got the error message while installing it, but it did not block the installation.
So far, the only problem I found is thet if I click on the "delete record" command I am prompted to insert a new record instead of deleting the one I am supposed to delete. Therefore, I could not delete any records.

I have similiar question and how it has affected selecting contact from my google account for the contact field in my database:

I have memento set up on my Android phone and have downloaded memento 3.1.8 chrome install package as well to install into Chrome as an extension. The app works great on Android device. It set up nicely as Chrome extension on my Windows 10 PC as well once I unpackaged and installed. 

Only issue I have and wish to overcome now:

I set up cloud storage to be able to share database between PC and Android device. During cloud account setup, it gave option to select google account or set up an account account thru memento. It only showed one of my Google accounts, but it was not the one I need to associate Memento with for cloud use. I instead set up a direct memento account. In one of my databases, I have used the "Contact" field to be able to quickly select a contact from my google account contacts  and insert / attach in the field added within the database. 

Note, the Contact field this is a standard field available in the database builder. 

Now, as I use memento via Chrome Extension install on my PC, I do not see my contacts from Google account when using the contacts field in my database. I suspect this is because I was not able to select the Google account to set up my cloud account but am unsure. I do see my contacts and can select from them when using Memento on my Android cell phone, but not on the PC where I downloaded the extension files and added to Chrome as an extension. I just need to whether or not this is occurring because I was unable to set up using the Google account (note it is a Google Apps account) or if this functionality would or wouldn't exist whether or not I used a google account setting up cloud storage and the Chrome extension I have installed on the PC. 

What this result in is my having to set up my database entry on my Android cell phone, selecting the associated contacts from my phone for  the contact fields where applicable, save the database entry, then complete remaining database field entries on PC where applicable, which is not favorable. It would be far more efficient if I could also access my google account contacts in the Chrome extension version the same way as I do on my Android cell phone. 

Please advise of any insight into how or if this matter can be corrected in the Chrome Extension version I am using on my PC. Thanks.

Can I ask what version of windows are you using? Iinstalled in windows 8, was working sort of good with some problems of synchronization, then not working with windows 10...not at all. 

Does anybody has good experience with welder.chrome app in windows 10?

I installed memento in my PC and it was working great, but now it cannot sync anymore. It tells me to check my connection, but I have internet in my PC. Also, when I try to use my memento account I receive the message: "trust anchor for certification path not found".

Does anybody know how to help me?

I installed Bluestacks, an Android interface emulator, and then I started using Memento Database. It works pretty well to me, both on Mac and Windows.

I had Memento Database 3.8.1 installed on my Chrome Browser which worked okay until now. I use Linux Mint Cinnamon 17. When I use Memento Database on Chrome I get a message saying it is out of date and to upgrade to the latest version. I can't find the latest version. Does anyone know how to get it.

Try using Andy 46.10.560 as an Android emulator.  It works MUCH better than slow Bluestacks.

I have the Chrome Browser plugin installed on my Chromebook, but how do you actually open your database/libraries?
