I just installed Memento Database on my PC, but when I try to sign in with Google it gets stuck, and it doesn't allow me to open up the database. Any suggestions? Thoughts?

If your Memento account has your user name and your case-sensitive email address as your identifiers, logging in using your Google account's identifier won't work. If your account has always been with your Google identifier, then I recommend that you email the developer about it -- sup...@MementoDatabase.com -- as it might be a bug. Once you're in touch with him, he'll fix it one way or another regardless.

I am having the exact same problem. I just installed it today. First on my phone and I used Google login, no problems. But I can not log in using Google on my PC, it sends an authorization to my phone then gets hung after I approve it.

There is something wrong with the Google authentication process. I have sent an email to support:

SEVERE: Can't obtain google token from auth code
com.google.api.client.auth.oauth2.TokenResponseException: 400 Bad Request
{
  "error": "invalid_grant",
  "error_description": "Malformed auth code."

I received this from the developer. I think it might resolve your problem. Please consider giving it a try...

Unfortunately, the latest Desktop version has a bug related to Google SignIn, but you can download this beta version that has the fix of this bug:

Hi Bill,

Yes, 1.7.1 resolved the issue. Thanks for sharing it!

Is there any way to use the PC version and transfer the info to your phone without the cloud?
I don't do clouds...

As I understand it, the basic cloud that can hold up to 3 libraries comes free with Memento, so you should already have it. So, if you click on the cloud for the library you want to transfer and put your library there, then you should be able to see it on your phone, tap it, and download it.

 I think it does but I don't want to upload personal stuff to a cloud (which essentially is just someone else's computer).

As you like it. I always worry when my data is in a hackable place, but I don't think the hackers of the planet are interested in the little Memento cloud much more than spending their time trying to hack me individually. They can make way more money spending their time on the Google, Apple, Microsoft, and Dropbox, maybe Amazon clouds -- no?

Also, I think Memento uses end-to-end encryption, doesn't it? If so, they can't do anything with it even if they do steal it. Of course, I wouldn't want my only copy of a file to be out there.

 Well, what is basically comes down from the developer is money.... there is a monthly fee for the cloud which for people like me would be totally unnecessary with full PC support. I'd gladly pay more money for this feature. Zero chance I'm subscribing to the cloud service.
There are ways around this dilemma with emulators (like Bluestacks) and screen mirroring but I shouldn't have to resort to that.

Yeah, that's just the way he prices his service vis-a-vis his product. It probably roughly corresponds to how he incurs cost. Keep in mind that the cloud for 3 libraries is free for Android, Windows, Mac, and Linux platforms. If you use Link to Entry fields, it's barely enough to implement one app and maybe not even that. But it is an effective way to use an app stores these platforms, sync a couple of libraries, transfer them between these platforms, and use the report writer on the cloud. It's just that you have to do it no more than 3 libraries at a time -- any number of entries, but 3 libraries at a time, that's all.
