Hi,

Besides brutis and memslap, do you know of any other well-known
benchmarks for memcached?

Thanks!

I don't know if it's well known, but:
https://github.com/ingenthr/memcachetest

(let me know if you want a dist tarball, that'd be easier to build)

There's also:
https://github.com/dustin/mc-hammer

Also, I'd guide you to think about what you want the benchmark to model,
rather than just look for tools. What is it your app would do, and then
pick a tool like that.

Hope that helps,

Matt

Hi,

Thanks a lor for your rapid response. Actually, as you mention,
I am not so interested in the tools, but I would like to find
a reference set of test (not defined by me) so that I can compare
memcached performance in different platforms. Of course I can create
a test set to collect the information I want, but I was wondering
if there exist a "standard/official test" for memcached.

Might be of interest to this group that memcached can be run pretty
trivially at user-space using the OpenOnload accelerator software.
There are a couple of deployments out there. One report I got was that
request times were halved at 212K tps. I blogged the result here:

http://10gigabitethernet.typepad.com/network_stack/2011/01/memcached-onloaded-.html

More information on OpenOnload can be found at www.openonload.org .
It's a GPL project, currently running on Solarflare 10G Ethernet NICs
(vendor plug).

Best
Steve
