Hi,

I am new to memcached and would like to know whether there is/are some way(s) to secure caches on memcached in a shared hosting environment?

I have redhat linux with apache and php installed. I have hosted multiple sites using virtualhost entries in apache. My clients are requesting me to provide memcached, but from the articles and with some testing I could not find any way to secure cache areas for each of my clients. This is required so that none of them accidently or intentially read/delete/flush each others cached keys.

can you please advice?

thanks and regards,
kaushik

Why not run multiple instances?

There is the also the open source bucket engine (written for membase/Couchbase) but it requires SASL with and 1.6.  Could work, depending on your environment.  Bucket engine is used at and was written for Heroku's memcached add on by Couchbase.
