How to count active sessions in non-sticky mode

We run several instances of Tomcat 7 in parallel deployment, non-sticky mode, and Redis. This library works very well -- thank you!

However, when I use Tomcat Manager, I am not able to get an accurate active session count -- it always gives 0. It is not a showstopper, but, it would be nice for us to be able to discard old versions when they are no longer in use. Or even just to see the volume

There was an issue raised on GitHub about this, and the advice was to look on the mailing list. I have looked, and not found anything relevant. Any guidance would be appreciated. Thank you!
